Hello,

Just come back off my holidays so thought I'd share a before and after picture which are nearly 1 year apart (one from each holiday). I started my diet in January and currently lost 68lbs with a total target of about 80lbs.

Thanks

Dave.

  • Thanks everyone for the kind comments.

I feel 1000 times better both in fitness and mindset.

I have been eating healthy for the past 6 months ensuring all evening meals are cooked fresh with less than 4g of saturated fats and 600 calories. All lunches are about 400-500 calories and less than 4g saturated fats and breakfast is around 300 calories. I completely cut out snacks and I only drink water or cordial. It sounds tough to meet those but its actually quite easy with the help of sites such as www.bbcgoodfood.com where you can find some fantastic recipes. I have found saturated fats are much more important to calorie counting.

For exercise I started by walking 4-5 miles most nights for 3 months. I think I was averaging 100-120 miles a month. That sounds a lot but for 1 hour a night it was very enjoyable. Allowed to relax and enjoy some music and scenery.

After the 3 months I began to pick up some sports. In-particular squash and biking. I currently play squash twice a week for an hour a time and bike for 1-2 hours a week.

While all of this probably sounds like a lot of effort it has infact been relatively easy. I have not seen it as a chore but very enjoyable. I have managed to socialise a lot more and got lots of new hobbies (cooking which i love, squash and biking). The time commitment sounds a lot but I just reduced my tv watching, browsing the internet or doing nothing and replaced it with something fun.

Still a stone to go but planning to reach my goal at the end of September.

    Dave.

p.s. the meal in the picture is from the cheesecake factory in Orlando and was prawns with black bean and a spicy sauce with rice.
