Wow! That's amazing! How did u it? Did u follow a specific diet program?1

It's possible, or at least possible to come close. When you have a small gap of fat left to lose like 20lbs, it's going to come off slower. You will have to make sure you're being on the nose precise with your tracking, and the rest is time and patience and persistence. You might be looking at a .5lb loss a week as a goal.7

Depends on how much you weigh to start. Bigger people can lose more weight quickly, smaller people lose slower. I think 20 pounds is a pretty reasonable amount of weight to lose in 3 months if you stick to your plan. Try not to give yourself a time frame though. Any time I have done that I have set myself up for failure. I do my best to lose 1-2 pounds a week and not look too far into the future. I have lost 16 pounds in a few months but I still slip and have a binge day but I get right back up. I used to feel guilty and quit entirely. I have found that if you keep going even when you slip, you will eventually see losses even if it takes a touch longer.11

Yes that is realistic. Last time I did this I lost 20 lbs. in two months and then another 10 the third month. However I foolishly quit logging because of stress in my life and eventually I added the weight back. Now I'm doing it again and expect the same results as long as I am careful with my logging and stick to it. I'm not on any particular diet program and basically follow the macro guidelines that MFP sets for me. What you eat is not as important as staying within your calorie goals. I'm only on week two but so far I've lost 1.5 lbs. so I'm on track. Remember to lose a pound a week you have to have a deficit of 500 calories/day and therefore to lose 2 lbs. week you need 1000 calorie deficit (which is what I do). Decide how many pounds per week you want to lose and let MFP do the math for you. Then you can adjust if you need as time goes on. Good luck on your goal.3

Eat in a moderate calorie deficit and don't tie yourself to an arbitrary timeline. Best of luck to you.7

I have 15lbs to lose by January when I have my next blood test. I need to lower my cholesterol by 3 to 4 points as well. Feel free to add me3

I've lost 17 pounds in 91 days, so yes it's possible. I started MFP at 154.6.5

I have lost 26lbs in exactly 70 days at an average 2.6 per week
However I started out nearer to 290 so had a high BMR & TDEE
My TDEE averages 2700 so eating 2000 I drop the weight easily. At your starting weight, trying to lose 30lbs in 12 weeks might be a bit restrictive on calories unless you do lots of exercise and eat back half of the burn
How many cals does MFP offer to lose 2.5lbs per week? If it is less than 1200 then re-set to a slower weight loss. 1200 should be the minimum you eat
good luck6 -
Me too! Trying to lose 20lbs in 3 months. Feel free to add me2

I lost 20 pounds in two and a half months just counting calories. I'll occasionally walk on the treadmill. You can do it!

I lost 20lbs in 3 months but it was right off the bat when I went from eating who knows how many calories to being really strick at 1200 and exercisin daily. Now I'm almost down 50lbs/1 year and it's coming off more like 1/2 lb/week.6

I didn't follow a specific diet plan, I just cut out all the things I knew were bad for me and started walking more and more every day. Eventually adding in strength training. Logging my food helped me stay on track. I completely cut out sodas and literally drank nothing but water throughout the day and one cup of coffee in the morning. And definitely had to stop the binge eating. That was hard for me. Good luck2 -

Aren't you also taking appetite supressants?
OP it will depend on your stats and what you find sustainable, you will need approx 750 calorie deficit per day. If you're currently 180lbs depending on your height/age that could put you at too low of a calorie intake (a 30 year old 5'4" female at your weight would be at 1150 calories for that sort of loss, the recommended minimum is 1200).
If you're taller you may be able to pull it off, or you could just aim for 0.5-1lb per week, get in some strength training and you will probably see a good bit of progress in that time whilst not feeling like you're starving.5 -
I would love to pull off a similar goal, myself.0
