Hi my name is Joe and I am from Michigan and I am 223pds and I am 5-8 and I would like to see myself down to around 175-170 range. I have tried this before and never really stuck to it. I have recently found out that I have kidney disease and have been stable for over 5 years now. I want to better myself but need all kinds of encouragement.

Hi Joe, I am also Jo. I hear ya about the health stuff. I have recently decided to make a stronger commitment to my health, not just with my weight and nutrition, but with drinking and smoking as well. Hope to encourage each other!!

Part of losing weight and becoming fit can mean (for some people) increasing your protein intake, lowering fat intake and/or lowering or adjusting carb intake. You may want to check with your doctor to make sure what amounts of protein you can handle if you have kidney disease. Just food for thought.

Everybody wants to lose weight. Losing weight is extremely simple, because it's just eating less and/or moving more. But it's not easy, because we have to do it consistently, for real, and forever. Anyone can write a meal and workout plan that creates a calorie deficit if you just follow it. Very few can just follow said random plan. Because we are real, livng things with a free will and a real life, we have to find a way of eating and exercising that fits out preferences, values, schedules, medical issues, economy, work, family and social life, how we think, move and feel. That is what you need to do now, unless you want to make a similar headline next year.
