What type of CGM are you looking into? My daughter wears a Dexcom. We couldn't imagine living without out now that we are used to having it.1

My husband uses Dexcom. It's absolutely worth every penny.2

Dexcom is the only one I'm familiar with - love how easy it is to use.1

Love my Dexcom!0

If you have diabetes, and are on insulin, CGMs can be lifesavers, quite literally, especially if you have hypoglycemia unawareness.
If you do not have diabetes, and are just asking for general weight loss/fitness purposes, it won't be useful to you at all.

And dexcom is the way to go!0

I think if your blood glucose is unstable enough that a doctor is recommending it, you won't get better advice from a fitness website.5

I have been using a Dexcom for 2 years and absolutely love it. I believe the only other one available in the US is Medtronic and I've heard bad things about their accuracy.0

I have chronic pancreatitis and diabetes...a1c over 8. I gotta do something.0 -
If your insurance will cover it, or the majority of it, I would definitely do it. With the G5 version, you don't need the receiver, your cell phone can be the receiver. It's an amazing piece of technology.0 -

Part of what I was wanting to know is people's experiences. I officiate football, baseball, softball and basketball. I am concerned with how well it sticks, convenience and how accurate it is.0 -
If you are getting the Dexcom, I would also recommend picking up a product called Skintac. You can get it in liquid or wipes. We just order ours from Amazon. It is basically like a super glue for medical devices. My daughter is in sports and a clutz. We usually can leave one sensor in place for 14-21 days. After 7 days you can just restart the sensor. You don't need to actually replace it till you start getting numbers that way off from your actual finger sticks or also getting a lot of ???. As long as you don't over calibrate it, it can be pretty accurate. Try to only calibrate it when it is asking for a blood drop, and if you currently have a steady arrow. It's great because you can also see where you are trending.1

I also wear the Dexcom CGM most of the time, and it is incredibly helpful! It's so great to see how different foods/moods/situations affect your blood sugars. It will take a little getting used to if you haven't worn a medical device before. You may hit it on doors or walls if you wear it on the back of your arm, but you will soon adjust.
Definitely get Skintac to keep it on longer, and there are fun medical tape patches specifically made to help keep the sensor on (GriffGrips and Pump Peelz, etc). You shouldn't have a problem with it falling off while you officiate sports. I workout almost every day and mine usually last about 2 weeks. I also find the accuracy to be really good. I trust it so much I will actually bolus based on it if I'm in a rush (this is FDA approved to do).
Let me know if you have any other questions!0
