Hi! As my 31st birthday approaches, I find myself, once again, starting another diet, another "get sexy" plan, another "jump start". I'm fully aware of what I SHOULD do to lose weight, and I always start off with the best of intentions. I do great for the first day or so. Sometimes a week or two. I've had some success- I used to weigh in at 305 and I'm now somewhere between 275-285. But I'm stuck here. (Actually I was down to 255 but I've gained 20 pounds back since November 2009.)
I don't want to be "thin". I've never been "thin". The few women I know, in my height range, that are also in my "healthy " weight range look so skinny to me. Honestly? I want to feed them something yummy. i just want to feel better about myself. I want to look in the mirror and see the person I used to be. I've been depressed and sick a lot the past few years and I don't want to feel that way anymore. So here I am. 275 (ish) pounds, 5'5 and starting over. There's a lot stacked against me, and usually I get so overwhelmed I give up, but I want to put forth my best effort and really try to lose this weight. I think I will just take small goals at a time, so for now my target is 250 pounds. Exercising is very difficult right now (I'm very top heavy and have back problems) so I will say my target date is around Thanksgiving. Wish me luck! I'll definitely need it!

You are at the same stats I was at when I started----just look to improve your overall health.
I did not exercise until I dropped my first 40 pounds--8 weeks after my start date. Then my body was screaming to exercise--pretty neat how it fell into place. Now, I cannot live without exercise. It makes me feel so good.

I can agree and understand with where you are. But, I also agree in the journey approach. I have had to arrive at a place where I realize that every day is about getting up, doing my best, and moving on when I have chocolate cake or decide that running is not of interest to me. Each day is a new day and we have to live it that way. Being proud of the little changes is the only way to succeed into anything big. It's been over 3 years for me for just 50 lbs but, each year I feel better than the one previous, isn't that worth it all? Looking better today than a year ago sometimes is a more long lasting reward than 6 weeks ago when we crash and burn.
Keep up the pace. Anything I can do to help, let me know. Press on, take one day at a time, and remember that God even cares about weight loss as He cares for us, He's in it to help.0 -

do you have a local friend with skin you can buddy up with too?? i find that has helped me a ton..i have a long way to go but know i can DO it!! YOU CAN TOO! i think a big part is attitude!! why do we want to lose those pesky pounds? i personally HATE the word DIET..:sick: :noway: it needs to be a lifestyle..and its NOT impossible!! do u have a slimmer YOU pic u could put on a mirror or the fridge door?? SEE yourself slimmer and healthier. you will find losing weight does MUCH more than helping you look better..it will give you confidence you may have lost or misplaced. heres to GOOD changes in our lives..have a SUPER journey!! add me as a friend.. ok?? Just keep tracking that calorie plan that MFP suggests for you and start drinking lots of water and for exercise just start with some walking even 15 or 20 minute with make that weight drop. The key to drop weight is calorie check and lots of water. You can do it and I know and I'm so positive that you will achieve you desired weight and then you will look in the mirror and smile :-)

I've had the yo-yo thing for many years...I came into this year with a new mindset. While my goal is still to lose weight, my primary goal is to become healthier. I have read a lot of things about nutrition and exercise, and how the body works, and they help motivate me because now I have a better understanding of the damage I DID to my body for those years....and what I need to do to get my body back on track (which I have been doing this year).
What things are you willing to do to lead a healthy life? What things are you willing to give up or reduce to lead a healthy life? Answer those questions each day, read over your goals each day, and take this thing one day at a time. Afterall, you can do anything for a day.0 -
Wow, thanks you all for the encouragement. Patience has never been my strongest virtue, but I think this time I am really ready to see some results and feel better. I’ve been drinking a lot more water lately, and no longer keep my “weakness” items (brownies and cookies) in the house. I’m trying to incorporate more fresh fruit and veggies into my diet. I’m a Southern girl so I have to really work on some of those down home recipes I like, or learn to only have them for holidays. Thanks again for the support!0
