I lost my son on September 28th to a Massive Cardiac Arrest. he was my only child and only 37 yrs old. I take certain medication that I have to eat something with some fat in it twice a day. My best friend told me my son would want me to eat.I posted my food today for the first time since the 27th. I thought I ate a lot more today than the last week. I was under 1000 calories and my calorie goal is 1200 a day. How do I start eating right again? I have no appetite. I am not cooking and don't feel like it, I waited to post until tonight and did not know how I was doing. How can I get my1200 calories in without cooking. I am single and don't have anyone else to cook for, any suggestions?

First, let me say that I am so sorry you lost your son. Children are not meant to pre-decease their parents. It's something no parent should ever go through. I can understand you not wanting to cook or eat, but your friend is right, you do need to eat and take care of yourself. I highly recommend you talk to a professional therapist who can help you through the worst of this dark time. As for food, if you don't want to cook right now, and can afford it, you can eat pre-made meals from the grocery store or restaurants. Although restaurants tend to be higher calorie foods. Make sure you log and stay within your calories. Also, you can try doing a Google search for recipes you can make for one person, or perhaps you can meal plan and make some to eat now, and some to freeze. Wishing you the best, and peace of mind.
