Carbs really don't automatically make you gain. Calories do. So if you are overeating anything you'll gain.

If you start counting calories, regardless of where those calories come from, and are under/at your calorie goal (make sure your deficit is reasonable for you) you'll lose weight. You could eat bread all day - if you've eaten an amount that fits in your calorie goal.

Carbs are fine. Just count calories including fruits and veggies!

carbs dont make you fat. Fat doesnt make yoou fat. Protein doesnt make you hugely bulky and muscular. Just doesn't. Not how it works.

Calories are king, Count your calories accurately and keep a deficit youll lose.

60-80% of my calories come in carb form

I'm a vegetarian. 50-60% of my diet is carbohydrate. Carbs are not the enemy. Log your calories, stay under them, lose weight, boom.

By carbs, you probably mean processed foods? My breakfast of a sweet potato mashed up with banana, honey and cinnamon was very heavy on the carbs, and full of nutrient dense calories

Hey guys. There is some confusion here. I know cause carbs don’t make you fat. In fact, my original post stated that I do not eat carbs in MODERATION. Some people crave sweets, I crave carbs. And that craving is what has me missing the caloric deficit. I was simply sharing my weakness.

NOW, if anyone who is a little nicer would like to friend me...please feel free!

Is it all carbohydrate-containing foods that you struggle to moderate or are there certain ones?

When I was first losing weight, I also struggled with portion control. I found that there were certain high-carbohydrate foods that I had to be more careful with, but others (like fruits, vegetables, beans, and rice) were easy for me to limit. So maybe you could note your reactions to different foods and make a plan from there. I ate pasta, potatoes, and bread less often for a while until it became easier to control myself with these foods.

I also found that the amount of fat I included in my diet was important for appetite control. When I had a good amount of fat with my meals, it was easier to stop eating even when the meal was higher carbohydrate. This may be the same for you, so it's worth paying attention to (or maybe protein is what will do it for you).

I too am trying to eat vegan. It is hard to cook for meat loving family, so I am trying to ease into it.
I started making protein shakes for breakfast with spinach, raspberries and flax seed and bananna. Then for lunch a veggie wrap with a small amt. of goat cheese and a splash of vinegar. Yummy. Filling and not starving yet. Dinner is always the problem. Fish and veggies?

Lots of options for vegan dinners. Recently I've had things like chickpea piccata, kale and chickpeas with miso peanut sauce, rosemary lentils on a baked potato, aloo saag, savory french toast, butternut squash soup, savory steel-cut oats, carrot-tomato soup, potato chowder, mock duck sandwiches with potato salad, spicy tofu scramble, lentil soup, tempeh nori rolls, and sesame noodles with marinated cucumbers.

I fail to see how saying carbs arent the enemy and I aswell eat high carb makes me not nice. SORRY for answering based on what little information you gave.

I don't see a single post in this thread where anyone was being not nice.

Hey, I don’t think anyone meant to be mean. The confusion is that vegans and vegetarians tend to eat a higher overall carb percentage in their macro tracking. There’s no separation for cereals/ grains/ chips/ crackers vs. fruits and veggies, in the numbers. Ppl who are unfamiliar with my diet might look at my Marcos and think I’m eating lots of breads. Vegan and vegetarians wind up defending carbs, bc alot of us feel like it’s okay to have a high percentage of its from fruits and veggies.

Disclosure. I eat bulk, low cal, mostly plant based, but I am less strict if I do out, and I even eat a small amt of fish/meat at home.
