Tea

Do you log loose leaf tea or just what you add to it? And do you count it towards your water intake?

Tea itself is no calories (unless you are eating the tea leaves). I would only log things added to the tea. Yes, it counts towards your water goals,

I log my teas and other 0 calorie drinks, but do not count them towards my water goals.

I do log my tea, I do not count it toward water because some teas are diuretic thus they can dehydrate you.

@suzannesimmons3 that may be but it does the same thing as a diuretic does to your kidneys. And your kidneys are very important, you do not want to damage them.

Tea is not a diuretic and is fine for the kidneys. I count it as part of my water intake. Alcoholic beverages are the only thing that should not be counted toward fluid intake. The alcohol is truly a diuretic.

No it doesn't. ....scientists have proven that caffeine is not a diuretic. Tea or coffee if you have normally functional kidneys does not damage them at all.

    Source?

I log tea if I've added milk, but not otherwise.
I always add it to my water intake because, uh, it's made of water...

I never log tea or coffee.

    They're both 0 calories.

I log tea only to keep in the habit of logging everything. (@machka9 - coffee is not zero calories, 1 calorie per a generic 8 oz up to 5 calories for a venti size at Starbucks.)

    Oooooo! 1 calorie!

Well fortunately I haven't darkened the door of a Starbucks in about a decade, and then only once, I think.
