What happens if I skip breakfast. Does fasting work.

Some people swear by it. Whatever works best for you as long as you're staying within your calorie allowance.1

If you skip breakfast you have more calories for a bigger lunch and dinner (or whatever meals you eat)

Assuming you still eat the same number of calories for the day, it does nothing for weight loss. Some people find it easier to stay within their calorie allowance for the day by skipping breakfast and having more calories for lunch and dinner.
If you are someone who is hungry in the mornings, it's probably not for you.0 -
Those are two questions.
Skipping breakfast isn't really a thing. Your first meal of the day is breakfast (you break your fast). What happens if you eat breakfast later (how much later)? What do you expect to happen? Have you never postponed breakfast?
Does fasting work? For what? Fasting is not eating, possibly not drinking, for an extended period. You will be taking in no calories. You will get the effect of not taking in calories. The effect will depend on how long you're fasting - from "none" to "starvation".0 -
My boyfriend swears by intermittent fasting. For years the scale stayed at about 185lbs for him. Earlier this year, he started intermittent fasting 2 days per week and is now under 180lbs. He basically eats his dinner at 5pm then doesn't eat anything until 1pm the next day when he eats his regular healthy breakfast. This is the only thing he has doesn't differently. I read somewhere that in addition to naturally eating less calories because you're missing a meal, that intermittent fasting also puts you into ketosis, so you're burning fat similar to a ketogenic diet.10

If you skip breakfast, then you simply don't eat until later in the day. Nothing special happens. I think I know what you're trying to get at, but there isn't any meaningful physiological response to fasting. As @livingleanlivingclean said... In the simplest terms, it simply gives you more cals to eat the rest of the day - i.e. rather than having 2000 cals to divide up over 3 meals and 12 hours, you have 2000 cals to divide up over 2 meals and 8 hours (or however you choose to eat).0

Fasting for me is not eating for 12 hours or more, I am usually asleep for most of those hours. I do not eat until 6pm so I do anywhere from a 12 hour to 21 hour fast depending on life events dinner with friends etc. I still get the same amount of calories I would with a regular diet I just eat them in a smaller window of time. It works for me because I have never been super hungry during the day but ravenous in the evening. So this allows me to save my calories for a time when I really want them and it keeps me from overeating. I still eat all my calories though, otherwise you miss out on vital vitamins and nutrients.0

I've been doing intermittent fasting for 4 days now and have lost about 3 lbs. I think my body was "used" to what I was doing so I needed to change it up. It's easier for me to stay within my calorie limit and eat what I want when I can split my calories between 2 meals rather than 3. I feel like I don't have to restrict myself so much. So it's working for me. I stop eating at 8:30 at night and don't eat till 12:30 the next day, so basically i'm skipping breakfast. I do get a little hungry but I chew gum and drink a lot of water.0
