my goal is to go from 22 percent bf to 16 by the end of next month, and ive had it up to here with "coaches" "personal trainers" and "fitness experts" who are more than willing to help...if i fit xyz guidelines for them to read from. No, i cant afford special food or a gym membership. Yes, im a lactose intolerant vegetarian. Actually, im 4'8" tall and dont want to be bikini ready, i want to be figure ready. And yes, i undereat, but considering the quantity of food i put away to hit 1500 calories...ill take it. I lift heavy and i cardio hard daily. I have tried lighter and less and tried heavier and more. I ate no carbs for months then i ate tons. Ive upped protein, slashed salt and tried new things id never heard of. It hasnt worked. People, give me your best. Im a 21 yo woman, who alternates between lifting and cardio, or both, 6 days a week. One week is 8-10 reps the next is up to 30 with drop sets. i eat a variety of food 4to6 times daily and get 100g carb and 200 g protein. No added sugar or salt. Ever. i weigh 110 lbs and am 22%body fat. 11 inch flexed biceps, 29 in chest 22 waist 32 hips 12 calf and 19 thigh. i want more muscle and better definition. Ive tried everything else, you try me.

  • that sounds like way way to much protein.
  • I think you are on the wrong site. Our main priority is losing weight and hopefully gain that muscle hiding among the cottage cheese. LOL! You need to seek advice from the Ms. Universe site. I just wish I had your problem.

And, it's not allll about the perfect diet for muscle gain. Plus.. do drop that much bf% isn't the most feasible in that time frame.

I'm not an expert, but from what I've read about buliding muscle, a person has to eat more than in maintenance- and that even bodybuliders have difficulty eating enough. Also, you probably already know this, but progressively increasing the weights you lift is also essential.

    Good luck!

I'm not sure what to tell you about losing more BF, but from what I know 22% BF is HEALTHY for a woman! Anything less than 20% can be detrimental to your health as a woman. Most women I know that have less than 20% BF do not have a menstrual cycle, cannot get pregnant, and have a slew of other issues. Granted, you may not be worried about this now, but if you get to and stay under 20% BF, you could have complications with these things in the future. Be careful.

I Agree! I wish I had an answer for you but I’m not even close to your status! So I’m no help! Seems like you are very motivated though. Maybe Google a different site that is all about getting ripped! Good luck to you and your goals!

OP, I can't speak to your issue but hope you find a safe and healthy solution to your problem.

As far as this being the wrong website... I'm confused, the name of the site is My "Fitness" Pal so in name alone it sounds like you are on the right web site just for different reasons than some others.

Have a great day and best wishes :)

I do not think you are on the wrong site. It is my "fitness" pal. Just because most peopple on the site are losing weight doesn't mean it is all its for. I cannot answer your problem, but since you said you were venting I don't know if you wanted answers or just wanted to vent. I wish you good like

16 percent body fat is athletic competition-level for a woman - and not natural for some body types, but hey, a goal is a goal and I'll share some ideas. I am a veggie as well. I am also 5' 1 1/2" so I understand being small. I am in my 40s and don't even consider ever having body fat that low again but I used to be around 18% and I'll let you know how I maintained that. First, fuel. You want to be a race car at 16% so don't even think of putting any junk in your mouth. Don't sweat the carb counts: high protein, super-low fat. Under 20% fat for every bite you eat, lower if you can do it. There are veggies that eat lots of french fries and then there are veggies eating black-eyed peas, brown rice and veggies - you have to be the latter. All calories are not alike. Back off on the cardio intensity and stretch the time: 80 minutes, 6 days a week but not over 4.5 miles per hour if you are jogging, race walking is even better. Lifting is fabulous but daily is not allowing you to build muscle like an every-other day program. If you have to lift daily be sure to alternate upper and lower every other day. Keeping salt low is great for looking defined-salt retains water. Are you drinking plenty of water? Critical to keep everything functioning smoothly. Lastly, how are you measuring body fat? Calipers are cheap and accurate, bouyancy is the gold standard but not cheap, bio-impedance is highly inaccurate - those scales are a huge waste of money since an extra few glasses of water changes everything. Even with calipers, make sure they are using the maximum number of sites - I carry so much more fat on the hip and thigh, I have to have the other sites to get a balanced measurement. You sound very dedicated, motivated, and energetic - great qualities. Enjoy this fit machine you are fine-tuning and make some time to just relax - inadequate sleep (less than 7 hours) and high stress elevate cortisol, encouraging your body to retain the fat. Try yoga twice a week and aim for 8 hours per night. It seems obvious but no drugs, alcohol, or caffeine (drug). If you're going to be finely tuned, only the best. All the best to you - keep us posted what you try!!
