Would love to hear how you've lost the 28 lbs with a Keto's. I understand it and trying it, but haven't lost 1 ounce.1

I looked into this as well and am also curious! After seeing th fruit list of ones i can consume... sadly most are the most expensive ones, amd to ad also out of season. So any tips on keto during off seasons for most fruit or consuming foods when they are not in season?1

@amieshimmons best of success. I have been eating LCHF/KETO for three years but at very high calorie yet the weight is still slowly dropping/maintaining plus my health and labs are much improved.
@sbrandon22 it was day 45 of eating this way before I lost the first pound. I was 63 at the time in a major health crissis and I think that impacted my ability to lose weight because even walking was so much pain and effort.
@pamelaallaart I do very little fruit and get most of my carbs from nuts, coconut, and the like. I agree there is a learning curve figuring out what to eat. Boiled eggs and tuna are a major source of protein and fats in my case.2 -

Just started KETO this week. Lost 4lbs so far. Like my dad says "that's like a one dollar discount on a Cadillac". But it's a start. I would love to share and ACCEPT tips for success on my journey to lose 60lbs. I think I could have better and quicker success with a group that is keeping each other accountable. I am a chef so I am trying to get creative and use others' ideas.2

blog.joslin.org/2011/09/why-does-fat-increase-blood-glucose/
Why Does Fat Increase Blood Glucose?
I ran across this old article this AM after testing blood glucose and blood ketones levels after blowing a high ketone level on my $15 eBay alcohol breath meter. 10 hour fast blood glucose was 117 and ketone level was 0.4 (USA) . My last offical blood where showed 95 for blood glucose level and negative for ketones and my A1C had worked down to 5.0 so without question Keto is working out well for my health so why the 117 reading at 10 am this morning before eating or drinking even water? The article above covers how long burning fat can take to trigger the need for more insulin.
First and foremost after have lived mostly in a state of Nutritional Ketosis for the past three years measuring ketone levels has little meaning for weight loss yet we can read some wild remarks. The blood level of ketones can be rather low if our bodies have learned how to prefer to burn them as our major fuel source over glucose. They are not in the blood to measure because we are using more of them as they form for our source of energy.
I have never used the keto urine test strips because they are not designed for non insulin dependent persons. Unmanaged Type 1 diabete patients can build dangerous levels of ketones and they need to cheap ballpark way to test for massive high keto levels. See post #3 in the link below for the chart that shows the range of ketone levels.
https://ketogenicforums.com/t/blood-ketone-level-clarification/1716
3.5 is the highest level of blood ketones I measured shortly after I left off adding sugar and cutting out all form of grains plus getting heavy into coconut oil in my first cup of coffee which I am still drinking as I type this morning. Actually I feel like crap if my ketone level crosses over 1.5 for some reason. Three years in I am very happy with my 0.4 blood ketone level this morning.
Focusing on finding the macro that fully and completely addressed my carb cravings has been the key on my three years of improving health and health markers.
Again if you do much reading you may get sucked into the Ketone Level competion mind set. Medically speaking I find NO reason to do this and a ton of reasons to not do it. Since I have the meter and expensive expiring ketone test strips I may check my levels every 3-6 months if the spirit moves me.
Save your money for good books on the subject of how to find the Way Of Eating that works best for YOU. What works for me may not work for you. My only goal is to prevent my premature death and be walking and talking until I die where it be 5 days from now or 50 years from now.
Thankfully my one goal has automatically managed my failing health and that included my former obese state. For every 10% weight loss I have stopped and maintained there for about six months within +/- 5 pound range because of my 40 years of yo-yoing weight problem due to 100%+ weight gains after each loss cycle.
If one took 20 years to get 75 pounds over weight is just fine to take a few years to loss it. Diet I have learned is not about scale numbers but the full picture of one's total health. Actually while I was losing inches I did not lose the first pound until day 45. Give Keto 90 days to learn if it may be key to preventing a hard premature death.
At 66 I am pleased not only for my new lease on life but that while they are still eating highly processed carbs at the age of 20 my kids now see they do not have to help me in and out of cars and with many other things. Now they know what I did late in life to manage my arthritis and that they can change their WOE to prevent the damage I took from my high carb life style if they so choose. In fact both are eating better without verbal input from me.
Again if keto works for you it is a great tool but it is not magic and the level of ketones is not a big hairy deal. While I eat high calorie things seem to work when I keep my average daily carbs at around of 50 grams. I do not see going lower than 50 grams daily as needed to give me a longer and higher quality of life.
I am not in a Biggest Loser contest with others but just working to live to be 110 and walking and talking the entire way. I was at the funeral home the last two evening. One was age 59 (cancer in all of body) and one was 73 dying from a massive heart attack after years of poor health. There is more than the food that we eat at play in health. In my view it is how we think, eat and move that impacts our life spans the most and in that order.
Best to your version of Keto working for you.

Hello y’all! I’ve just started my Keto diet journey and have read that it could take upwards of 30 to 45 days to get into ketosis (where the body burns fat instead of carbs/glucose). I have limited my NET carb intake to just 20g daily as recommended by one of the carb calculators on one of the websites I like. One thing I haven’t learned on THIS particular app (MyFitnessPal) is how to change the total carbs to net carbs (total carbs minus fiber). Is there a way? Anyone know?
Anyway I’ve enjoyed the Keto diet so far. I’m looking forward to the “natural appetite suppression” as Keto-ian’s tout. My sister has been doing it for approx 3+ months and it took her approx 45 days to get into ketosis (she’s mostly sedentary). She states that she’s NEVER hungry and often has to make herself eat. Wow...love it! She now has started to fast. So far she is able to fast for 60 hrs. Incredible. I can’t even fathom it! I, myself am a little more active so I’m supposed to get to ketosis a little quicker than she did. I walk every morning and strength train at least 3 days/wk. I’m hoping my weight loss journey will be a learning and a character building experience.2 -
Unfortunately there isn't, unless you hack it with HTML code (google for instructions on that). I find the Keto Diet app good for macros and net carb calculations.
With MFP, I just go to Nutrients and mentally subtract the fibre g from total g carbohydrates to get a closer idea of my net carbs.3 -
Back on the keto train after about two years. I lost 75 lbs in under 5 months the last time. Gained it all back plus 15 more. Always love having keto friends for inspiration and tips. Feel free to add me.2

Hello and welcome! I suggest you check out the following main low carber daily forum group. It's where most of us Ketophiles tend to hang out although it is not the only LCHF themed group in MFP:
