When midnight hits..

If midnight strikes and you're still awake, and have a snack.. do you log it as the 'next day' since it's technically a new day? Or do you just add it to your original day because you haven't slept? I know ultimately it probably doesn't matter, but I'm just curious

I log wake to sleep on the same day so I would log it on the original day but you're correct it is just personal preference as to which day to log it on.

I had the same question .. I log everything in for the same day.. from when I get up to when I go to sleep that's considered one day for me

It does not matter for weight loss which day you log it. I prefer closing my diary at midnight.

I thought the calories involved evaporated at the midnight hour.

    not really.

I have tried it both ways and I prefer to just log it for the original day because it's just setting myself up to feel like a failure if I log it for the next day. Of course, our bodies don't care either way!

I would say that if you are already at or over your calorie goal for the day, log it on the next day so you better balance out over the two day period. If you log it for the first day and are over and then hit your calorie goal on the second day, you will be over your goal for the two day period. However if you add it to the second day, you will then have fewer calories to consume the second day and if you hit your goal for that day, then over the two day period you are not over your goals. If you were to log it on the first day and were over by say 300 calories and then hit your goal on the second day, you would be over your goals for the two day period.

This. But I do sleep between 4am and 12pm so yeah.

It isn't tomorrow until I've slept, no matter what the calendar says.

I would log it under "snacks" because I don't have any other meals set up.

No one saw me eat it that late, so its not free? Just kidding!!!

I log it in the day I am still awake for.. Don't like the idea of waking up seeing already used up calories. Its what matters at the end of the week though no matter how I chose to log these 2 days.

For me the stroke of midnight became a kind of crutch. Since I am a night person, I would tell myself wait until midnight then you can have more chocolate...more whatever... like free money:) Ultimately, it worked better for me to log those cals from wake to sleep.

I add it to the new day since the app makes the day change over and I'm too lazy to switch it. Plus have usually already hit the complete button. But I often eat a 3 am snack these days lol so I had to start doing it that way. What do you do when you snack while feeding the baby? New day? Old day? haha.
