It's worth pointing out that this refers only to the ordinary (aka "baryonic" matter), the stuff that stars, planets, interstellar gas and - in this case - the intergalactic medium is made of. We still believe that approximately 4/5 of the matter in the universe is "dark matter", that is not made of protons, neutrons and electrons.2
