yeah i guess i shouldn't put a target on my weight loss as such, and i am impressed with how much i have lost so far. I suppose i am a bit impatient. If i am honest i need to lose 56 lbs altogether, 19 lost so far so still got 37 lbs to go.1

It's salt and water retention (from all the extra salt), it'll be gone in a couple of days.2

I am not sure if i am reading too much into this but i find your comment harsh and quite rude. Maybe this is the wrong place for support after all.9

if every little deviation causes you to question your diet, I would highly recommend not weighing as frequently. These swings are super common. It takes time to put on 3 or 4 lbs of actual fat (not water). Just like it takes time for it to come off.3

She’s trolling you. You tried to accept some of her advice, but lecturing ppl makes some people feel superior and better ab themselves. Just click on her profile and put her on ignore. You can look through the groups for people who might be more supportive to your specific situation.13 -
who are you to tell me that i am damaging myself. I am eating a very healthy diet and losing 2lb per week is a steady loss and not drastic at all. I am sorry i came on here !8

I don't see any evidence that the OP is losing too quickly or dieting too aggressively. 19 lbs in 9 weeks may not work for everyone, but it's not so far out of line that anyone needs to have an eating disorder clinic on speed dial. Two pounds a week loss or even more than two isn't uncommon in the early stages of a diet. What's with the overreaction?3

shouldnt people like that be banned from here, it is supposed to be a support group is it not?13

@YepItsKrissYepItsKriss I do not find what you posted rude or harsh at all, but rather just the facts of the matter and some good advice, given the number of people who go gung ho with their weight loss and end up failing eventually due to lack of sustainability. Seen it so, so often during the years I have been here. I think people need to be in the right place to hear it, however.4

she started off only having to lose 56 pounds in the first place, She has lost 19 of that and STILL is trying to lose 2 pounds per week, This is 1000 calorie deficit daily.. This deficit is only achievable if you are morbidly obese, which is clearly not the case here. these 1000 calorie deficits are putting her under the minimum calorie amounts her body needs to function
She's still in the obese category at over 200 lbs and 5'7". The standard for a safe rate of loss is 1% of body weight per week, which for her is, surprise, 2 pounds. I'm not sure where you got the idea that she was petite and completely sedentary.3 -
If support group means sugar coating everything and lying, then no, it is not that sort of support group. Support comes in many forms, including warning individuals about the potential health issues that can come from trying to lose weight too rapidly or not getting adequate nutrition in the form of protein, fat and micronutrients. It would be irresponsible to anyone else reading this thread seeking knowledge if these things were not pointed out. I have been on the receiving end of such 'unsupportive' advice myself and have learnt that 99% of people here, regardless of how they might come across, have the best interests of their fellow posters at heart.12

YepItsKriss wrote: »@bethany1954 -- I am sorry you feel that way but i would never support someone damaging themselves and losing weight in an unsafe manner, the truth can be harsh but its your body and you only have 1, if you refuse to take care of it, it won't be able to pick up the slack for that forever. Your body NEEDS calories, it NEEDS fat, protein and carbs.. if you eat very little for an extended period of time and don't give it what it needs, it shuts down, it gets it from places it can get it, lean muscle on your body = protein.. if you wont feed yourself, your body will eat you.
I am actually being the most supportive person right now by telling you facts about where you are headed if you don't slow down and take this on in a better approach
If I were you, I wouldn't take OP's post personally, since s/he didn't use the quote function -- there's no way of knowing to whom s/he was replying. The posts were going up pretty fast at that point in the conversation (based on time stamps) -- s/he could easily have been responding to something several posts back. I don't see anything in your previous post that someone could rationally interpret as rude -- seemed very helpful and empathetic to me.
ETA - never mind -- hadn't finished the thread, and it does seem like OP and her/his white knights are somehow finding YepItsKriss' s post "rude." I wish I lived the kind of sugar-coated life where everything someone said to me was super-supportive and ego-boosting, even if it involved avoiding the truth. Well, no, actually I don't.10 -

Well, yes, but while she may not want to hear the truth, there is people lurking here and i am not about to just ignore giving the facts and letting people continue to damage themselves when they may not of known themselves either.
I know and this is what I was saying with my post and the one after.
I think it will always be the case that some will not be willing to listen until things go wrong and they end up back here posting having fallen off the wagon, lost their energy or hit a point where they cannot lose and cannot cut their calories further safely.

I switched from 2 to 1 pounds and I still only get 1310 per week , even for just 1 pound a week. I'm thinking of switching to .5 pounds.
If I weigh 172 now and I want to weigh 154. Is 1 pound a week too much. I feel like I am more likely to mess up when I restrict my calories too on much. But on the other hand, only 2.5 pounds by November 19 doesn't seem like enough.0 -

I don't think MFP is a support group, I've never seen it that way at all. It's more of an advice/opinion forum.

I agree. If the whole app & community, or even all the message boards, were meant to be a support group, there wouldn't be a specific motivation & support board.4 -
