Low volume, calorie dense is what you need.

if you're not logging then you probably aren't eating the amount you think.9 -

I eat pretty much the same things and i even weigh my foods....i write down my intake on paper just havent logged it in mfp0 -
How tall are you?

Are you doing intense cardio? Sprinting?HIIT? You might be burning too many calories and not eating enough to be at a caloric surplus. If you're not gaining you're not at a surplus.0

Im 6ft....and i do very to little cardio0

What is your current macro split?0

I'm disappointed nobody has said peanut butter is always the answer yet4

An example of a normal day would be useful.
And yes, the answer is always peanut butter & full fat dairy!1 -

If you aren't gaining, eat more. Repeat until you're ready to cut. Then if you aren't losing, eat less
No need to overcomplicate things
Edit: This simplification is based on the assumption you are eating sufficient protein and have a solid training program in place0 -

If you are eating well beyond 3k calories MFP gave you to gain weight and not gaining weight, something is off. Way too much activity, or how about you really are not eating 3k like you think.
And yes, peanut butter and full fat diary is always the answer.0 -
Buy some protein powder and start mixing it in shakes with raw oatmeal (rolled/old-fashioned), olive oil, whole milk, peanut butter, and fruit. Altogether it should be about 1000 calories. Don't chug the thing; just take your time and a couple of hours later you should be able to eat a meal.
Also, work on expanding your stomach. Eat until you don't want to eat anymore, and then eat a little more. It'll take time, but if you do it consistently enough, you'll be able to stomach more food.
You can read some more elaborate strategies on how to do so here: http://www.foodchallenges.com/category/stomach-capacity-training/1 -
Step 1, read the hard gainer thread and step 2 log your actual calories.
At best we can only tell you to eat more.1 -
If you are eating 4k calories, as you claim, then you would be gaining weight (probably a high proportion of fat at that).0

If the person is naturally active, that might not be enough. I know a small handful of people who have to gain on 4500 to 5k.1 -
I had to eat 4500 to gain weight. Currently eating 3000 and dropping slowly0

Of course. My comment reflected his statement that he did “very little cardio” but may have jumped the gun a bit. At 190lbs he would have to be extremely active to maintain anywhere near 4K cals0 -
Peanut butter, Almond Butter, Cashew Butter......usually one serving will have something like 7g Protein, 7g Carbs, 17g Fats and 190/200 Calories. I am not sure if we are allowed to mention specific brands, but I spend a lot of money at TJ's. I am sure that everyone knows that Traders by any name are still Joes.....But, to each their own. I like almond butter and cashew butter over peanut butter (I dont eat peanut butter often, but when I do it;'s Skippy Creamy). But that is just my preference. To each their own.
I also like Sun Flower seeds. Yes, sun flower seeds. 1/4 cup is 200 Calories, 8g P/6g C/17g F. I get the "Dakota Style" but I am sure that there are many others.0 -
These threads always amaze me. I'm 6' 157 with 18% BF and I have a very slow loss at around 2400-2500 calories, even with a decent amount of cardio. Does the extra weight and higher proportion of muscle make that much difference?0

No. A pound of muscle burns around 6 calories per day, a pound of fat burns around 2. So you're looking at an extra 4 calories per day burned for every additional pound of muscle. So it could make enough of a difference to be somewhat significant if he had maybe 50-60 pounds more muscle than you - but if that was the case, he wouldn't be posting about not being able to bulk because he'd be pretty jacked already.
But we don't know how active OP is and/or whether he's logging his food accurately. Those things could make that much difference.0 -

We do know this, and his isn't logging.0 -

If you're not adding avocado or guacamole in your food you should start. Avocados, and as another user mentioned peanut butter will help you gain weight. Good luck!!0
