Are you talking about the one on this website? There are all kinds of calorie calculators -- some are more accurate than others.0

They provide for a reasonably good starting point...you have to make adjustments per your actual results.1

if you're asking about the one here on MFP, its pretty accurate if you know how to log (weigh) correctly and select the correct foods0

follow the calculator for a week, and depending if you gain/lose/maintain adjust from there. Adjusting yourself will always be the best option. I followed the 2500 calorie goal for a week and ended up losing 3 pounds a week and had to bump up to 3500 calories, i dont know why it was so off0

Probably more accurate than most people's logging.
Do remember that myfitnesspal's calorie calculator works differently to most other calculators as regards how to account for exercise.0
