weird but serious question for those of you prima/paleo or anything similiar folks out there. I was told that low carbs and high fat equal catastrophe in the bathroom is this so? I have noticed the past day or so that the err roughage was extra rough and i'm wondering if its because of the changes i'm making

Yup. That is a common side effect of the Atkins diet.0

For sure. The first week of Atkins and similar diets makes you almost need to be antisocial.0

That's just your body adjusting to the new way of doing things. It will subside in about a week or two. If you have more Paleo questions try IPMG (International Paleo Movement Group) on Facebook.
I've been Paleo since April 2011. It WORKS!0 -
Maybe because of the extra iron youre getting? :huh:0

Yes, and my body tends that way ANYWAY, so I have to eat Fiber Tabs.0

I started the low carb 1 wk now and I haven't had any problems with the bathroom situation. I did the same low carb about 1 yr ago and never had any problems. Might just be with the individual, but it is great for the diabetic/cholestrel person. I know my sugars have gone where they need to be. I haven't lost alot of weight but my clothes are fitting nicer. GOOD LUCK0

I must admit, from the beginning, that I know very little about the diet other than it's based on what we think cavemen ate back in the day. That said, sounds like you're too much of a hunter for the time with limited hunting tools and language (attack planning)..... I can't see how more greens and beans (fiber) would hurt.0

It's the protein that's causing the issue. You need more fiber in your diet. My nutritionist recommended Benefiber, but I didn't like the texture. I'm using flax seed meal. It has a pleasant nutty taste.0

Constipation can be caused by the extra iron you are consuming, and by the other changes you are making. Make sure you drink plenty of water, and eat dark green veggies that contain fiber.0

I noticed the same thing plus I am taking fiber on the side. So I am good friends with the bathroom.0

no the problem isnt constipation at all lol. more of i've been told that you lose the fat through the toilet and that seems about right so far0

Ohhhhhhhhhh, LOL Yes, I believe that is completely normal, and expected.0 -
Yes I started this when I started my weightloss plan, and that first day was an explosion out of this world! I was not prepared for it! Thankfully I was at home and not at work. But the toilet ministry knows me well know but its not adjusted not, you just gotta give it time0

Ok yes, it helps things move through. But has any of you had problems with sleeping?? OMG, I am not new to going somewhat low carb but this week after reading Gary Taubes book I decided to go very low. Greens only for this month with maybe a piece of fruit every day or so and lots of meat and fats, just for the sake of argument. Last night I could not get any sleep no matter what I did!! I felt like I had drank a pot of coffee before bed, I was wired for sound until around 4am this morning! Crazy thing is, I dont feel like I've missed any sleep and that is even stranger. I one of those "must get 8 hours" people or I'm plain evil the next day. Has anyone had this issue with sleeping on this plan?0
