Move to 1/2# a week or stick with 1#?

I have been debating on whether or not it is time to move to a lower weekly weight loss goal. I am 5'4" and weigh 140 pounds. My ultimate goal is 125. I have my settings set at lightly active with a 1# a week weight loss goal. I wear an apple watch to track my activity and have the negative calorie adjustment on in case I have a day when I am not as active as others. I workout 5-6 days a week with cardio and weights. I eat my exercise calories back. I have lost 40 pounds since having my daughter three years ago, most of the since the end of last December.
If I eat nutrient dense foods, I have no problem sticking with this calorie goal. I have read so much, though, that says you should slow down as you near your goal. I want to do this the right way, so I figured I would ask on here.
If you were me, would you stick with 1# a week for another 5#s or would you switch now?

Personally, I would switch.2

Tapering can help you make behavioral changes in a less jarring and thus less likely to be catastrophic way. When reaching your goal weight, some will chose to go back to the behaviors that caused them to have excess weight in the first place. Well, by some I mean most. I think you should do whatever you think will help you avoid that.2

Are you still losing 1 lb a week? I’m guessing that your 1 lb a week is 1200 and your 1/2 a week setting won’t be much more.0

If stick with 1lb until you're on your last 10 lbs.
Unless you feel the need for more calories?0 -

MFP gives me a 1300 calorie setting at lightly active, which as the homeschool mom of four daughters, I am most days. Yes, I lose a pound a week when I consistently stick to this goal. I have dealt with some injuries and illnesses over the last few months and I haven't been as good at keeping track of things. Thankfully, I have only put on 1-2 pounds from where I was a few months ago.

Not really. As long as I eat healthy, the calories are fine. I feel full most days and don't feel deprived.

I see no reason to stop the 1 pound rate of loss going till you reach 10 pounds.1 -

I agree with the tapering. I won't be returning to the behaviors that led me to having extra weight as it came on from having 4 daughters. No more babies for me which hopefully means no more extra weight once I finally get it all off.
If I add up all of the weight I have lost since the birth of my first child, it is near to 150 pounds!0 -
I've been at .5 lb weekly goal and sedentary activity at all times. That was only a mind game for me as I wanted a calorie target I could easily stay under.1

Great. That is what I was leaning towards, I have just read people say that you should switch it at 15-20 pounds to go so I wasn't sure.

If at some point you experience cravings and binges, you'll know it's time.1

I agree with tapering now. It will help you preserve muscle during the final push. Great job!2

This is quite true. I started my last 14-15 pounds, but adherence to a larger deficit became an issue due to my training.
You mentioned you are fairly stable when sticking to your regime, compliance seems to be no problem, amount of calories seems to no issues as you mention no side effects. You workout with weights and do cardio so your are doing muscle sparing along side weight loss.
You can always cut your rate of loss down if you have any of these issues in the next couple of pounds loss. Great job btw!0 -

That all makes a lot of sense. I think that I will stick with one pound a week for the next few weeks at least. We are heading to Disney the second week in November and I know that I will indulge while there. Hoping to set myself up for not making too much of a mess of things.
When I get back, I'll see where I am at and will consider dropping to .5 pounds a week.
