I just started drinking the unsweetened vanilla almond milk (Silk) and it's only 35 calories for a cup, as opposed to 90 in skim milk for a cup. Supposedly it has more calcium than milk.
So, calorie wise ... it's better.

Almond milk is great as a low calorie item but it typically has a lot less protein than the milk.

Depends on what you are looking for, skim milk has more protein, but also more sugar. Almond milk has less sugar, but a lot less (and more or less negligible) protein. I personally prefer neither. Fat is an essential part of a healthy diet.

I love Silk Soy Milk...in fact, I just started buying the Lite Silk Soy Milk. I use it for cereal. It's delicious!

I've been wondering the same thing..

I use Silk milk light which has 1.5 grams of fat per cup as compared to 0 grams in skim. However, Silk light has 4 g sugar as compared to 12g in skim. I prefer the taste of Silk to skim too, so I'm crossing my fingers Silk is better for me!

I'm a vegan, so almond milk for me! I love almond milk, a little water, a scoop of soy protein, and a tbs or two of sugar-free chocolate syrup(I just made this, actually). Still low-cal, but yummy! I also may add some peppermint extract for a choco-minty mix. Sorry, blabbing :p

But personally, almond milk is my favorite dairy alternative(super low-cal helps!). Soy milk is great for cereal and baking, coconut milk is good for baking and to shake things up a bit every now and then, rice milk is pretty yummy and good with cereal, but I like almond milk for almost everything...so far

I literally just read this article and it made me want to reply. I don't know a thing about which is healthier, but maybe the article can help you decide what's most important to you!
