HRM trouble

I bought a Polart FT4 and got it last Friday. First used it Sunday and yesterday NO issues. Today, a min into my workout, it went HR: 00. I checked it and it was still in place and all. It worked again for another few min, then went 00 again. I tried taking the strap off and back on, I tried everything I can think of. Its a brand new HRM so Im rather agitated. Im the only one that uses it and it is set to my body. Help!

this has happened to me several times. I am not sure what makes it happen but I take the little clip on thing off or rewet the straps. sometimes you have to restart it.0

mine will do this when i wear it swimming, it does settle down in a bit, but it is frustrating.0

Most common solutions.
The sensors on the strap need to be wet, and the strap needs to be tight.0 -

Did you wet the sensor before starting it? I've heard spit is better than water but, I don't know if there's truth in that but, I do know that wetting it in one form or the other helps.0 -
make sure sensors are wet before putting the strap on
is there some wireless device around that might cause some interference? You seem to be losing the signal.
I realize its just brand new but maybe try a different battery0 -
I agree to make sure straps are wet0

I tried it again and discovered it only does it when I jump around (jumping jacks etc) I wet the sensors before I put it on and I put it on under my bra so its in contact with my skin. Its as tight around as it can go without smothering me LOL0

My FT4 often shows either 00 or 222 for my HR. It's still pretty new, tightened, wet, etc. Frustrates the hell out of me because sometimes I am so focused on trying different things with the strap and watch that my workout suffers. On the polar website in the troubleshooting section, there's a video of how to wash the strap and the electronic piece. This has made a big difference (but not completely solved the problem) for me. I sent an email to the polar guy but haven't heard back....unfortunately, I'm kind of just getting used to it and have started thinking of my HRM as "quirky" rather than "faulty"......0

this happened to me too...Might have a wet the sensors again...or try to wash the strap in the washing machine...i think it's the salt on the sensors from your sweat...
Good luck love!!!0 -

It could be the jumping...try an extra sports bra and/or tank top...the more "the girls" stay in place, the better it will be!0 -
I rinse off my strap daily when I shower after my work out. Maybe rinsing it off gets the sweat off and keeps the sensors sweat free? I know I wet the sensors under luke-warm water before putting it on too. They are thoroughly wet! It goes right under the girls under the sports bra. I make sure the wearlink thingy is smack dab between the girls too! LOL! Oh and the right side up! I don't know if that has any bearing on how it works. But one side is left and the other is right. If none of those things works ... contact Polar!! I mean .. you spent good money on it! It should work properly!0

Some HRM's have issues with wireless electronics devices emitting electrical impulses and throws off the transmission between the watch and strap. With all the Iphones and Ipods being worn while working out, I could see this as a problem. If you wear one or carry your phone on you, try exercising without it and see if that solves the issue.0
