Hi People!
Just wondering has anyone tried Miha Bodytec before?
I signed up to do a 10 sessions - starting the first one today.
wondering does anyone know how to work out calories burned in each session?
I forgot to ask when i was in there & won't be back for another week...

Calorie burn will not be much more (if indeed any more) than doing the exercises w/out EMS. While passive EMS training has been around forever, the use of EMS while exercising is fairly new and there is limited research as to its benefits.
Since this is being generated in the fitness world (as opposed to a medical setting, for example), there is little or no regulation and absolutely no limit to the claims that its proponents can make.
Right now this has a Woo Factor of about +1,000,000 vs a proven effectiveness factor of about +2. That could change over time as more research is done.
You will feel soreness and fatigue because muscles are being stimulated in a different way than you have experienced before. However, those sensations are not proof of efficacy.
I suspect that when all this shakes out, it will end up where most fitness fads end up--providing marginal benefits for beginners at an inflated cost, while not resulting in any more benefit than one could achieve without the intervention. Not a complete scam, but not capable of providing a fraction of the benefits claimed.
One warning: this type of exercise has been used more in Europe than the US. There are several reports of exercisers suffering from rhabdomyolyisis--a form of more extreme muscle damage. Some physicians are calling for legislation to regulate the use of whole-body EMS training.
I look at those warnings with a grain of salt, just like I do claims for "success", because they are more anecdotal as well. But they do point out that people need to exercise caution and not over exert while doing these workouts--either with the current used or the exercises themselves. Based on what I saw from some videos and the fact that Miha has been doing this for awhile in Europe, I suspect they are aware of this and regulate the workouts appropriately. But it is something to be aware of.1
