Am I eating too little?

So I've not lost any weight even though I was around 800 cals below my weekly goal last week I know that's not enough to lose anything but surely it shouldn't be enough to gain and I have gone up 0.25lbs I'm really upset because next week I'll be drinking as we are having a Halloween party so I just know that I'll end up gaining another 4lbs over the Halloween holidays and then that will be even harder to lose I'm aiming to eat around 1500 cals a day, I normally consume 1800 (300ish used from exercise) so I thought I'm eating enough maybe after Halloween I should drop to 1200? What do people think? Or is this too low?

The deficit doesnt work instantly. The results should be seen averaged over longer periods (4-6 weeks imo).
If logging is accurate, the weight gain is due to water. For eg. I ate at maintenance yesterday and my weight is up 2 pounds since yesterday morning. I know this is water weight and i will lose this within a week.6 -
You will not gain 4lb of fat by drinking for a night. Don't look at the scales if they make you doubt yourself. Log accurately and you will soon find you can feel it in your clothes3

.25 pounds is well with realm of daily fluctuations. If you are on point with logging efforts you can't gain fat. Trend your weight loss over 4+ weeks, many things effects our weight daily.
I hate to think of the idea of knowing I am planning for weight gain by going to party's. Will you still be counting cals? I would set MFP for maintenance during the week(s) you know you will be indulging. Compliance is still important and will help you keep weight gain at bay. Social events are always going to be part of life and your weight management way after weight loss is over.4 -
You would lose on 1500cals a day, it's not too low. If you're eating more but your net gets you too 1200cals that should be okay. Are you sure your burning the amount you're burning for your height/weight? It's not a big gain you could just be bloated so wouldn't worry about it and just stay on track if I were you1

I am planning on tracking all calories party regardless. I track everyday I use a fit bit charge 2 so I rely on that to tell me how much I'm burning during exercise. It's just frustrating because as soon as I lose any weight a social event comes up and I gain from it, it's like I can't permanently lose weight it always ends up creeping back up even though I log, track, weigh etc literally everything because I'm so extreme but for some reason I'm not seeing results.0

There are always going to be holidays, parties, vacations, nights out that could potentially affect your diet. It’s up to you whether you let them. It’s entirely possible to stay on track even with a social event. Try storing up your calories to give you a buffer, drink lower calorie drinks, choose low calorie options to eat.7 -
Do not drop to 1200! Give it time, be patient. Enjoy your halloween party and get back to your routine after.3

I completely understand this...it's like I can be good if I'm by myself but when I have to go out, it all goes out the window. I'm trying to be better during those times but yeah....hard.2 -
You're mistaking fat loss/gain for normal water weight fluctuations.9

If you are tracking and on point with being in cals deficit or even eating maintenance, its not fat gains, its water weight and its temporary.2 -
I think you should try the 5:2 FAST DIET It means you work out your TDEE and then you eat normally within your designated calories for 5 days and eat under 500 calories for 2 days Track your calories on MyFitnessPal as usual Look it up on the internet it really works and improves your health too. The diet also has a useful exercise programme too It is much easier than usual diets9

Thank you everyone who replied. However the party has now been cancelled so looks like I'll just be going out for Halloween and sticking to vodka and diet cokes hah! All that worrying for nothing seen as I'll be able to track more accurately with such a bland drink0
