My job requires me to be on my feet walking an average of 10hrs 3/4 times a week straight. I work 12hr night shift. I weight about 171lbs when I started working there lost a bunch, went down to 158lbs. Than I suddenly got stuck and I wasn't loosing weight anymore. So I got depressed and annoyed with myself and started to gained weight again. Now I weight 165.2lbs, I still walk 10hrs straight at a good pace, and I have started going to the gym after work for about 30-40mins. So after a 12hr shift/plus workout I am exhausted! And yet I don't seem to be loosing weight? I downloaded an app to help me keep track of my calorie intake, and most of the time I don't even eat as much as I am suppose to. I'm trying to stay between 1700-2000, and I am taking an average of 1600, is that to much maybe? Any suggestions? I am 25years old 5'2 and weight 165.2lbs

Male or female? Calorie intakes differ.

You can get stronger rather than weaker with some training. Are you doing any strength exercises when you go to the gym? I’d switch to every other day to the gym to give your body time to recover.

When you walk on the job do you change the pace? Do you switch shoes halfway through the shift?

When I go to the gym its mainly cardio, and to be honest I don't push myself as much just because I am exhausted from the 12hr night shift. I keep a pretty decent speed, not to slow and not to fast. But I do walk faster than than normal speed. And no I don't change shoes.

You are adding cardio to cardio. Try switching to strength exercises.

Change your speed back and forth during your shift. This will strengthen your muscles and reduce exhaustion.

Changing your shoes mid shift will also help with exhaustion.

Have you tried to reduce cal intake slightly? I just did a calorie calculator and it said in order to lose 1.5-2 pounds per week for your height and weight with a moderately active (4-5 times per week) you would need to consume around 1500 cals. I'm not super educated on the caloric deficit but that's just what I read lol. It's always hard hitting that slump- but you've got this! :)

My first question is, how are you calculating your food intake? Are you weighing all solids on a digital scale and measuring liquids? Are you using cups/spoons for everything? Or are you estimating?

Before going any further we need to know that you are actually eating the number of calories you think you are.

And as Jgnatca said, you're doing cardio on top of cardio. I know it seems like that should result in more weight loss, but sometimes it does the exact opposite, or at least appears to. This is because excessive cardio raises cortisol (stress hormone) levels, which can cause water retention, which in turn masks fat loss because the number on the scale stays the same, or even goes up. Switch to strength training, three days a week. You don't need more cardio on top of your job.

Do you have an activity tracker that tells you the number of steps you do per day? That could be helpful in assessing what your calorie intake should be. If the app you downloaded is this one, I would put you at highly active for your activity setting when calculating your calorie needs.

I am a 45 year old female, 4'11 and 100 pounds. If I walk 7 hours in a day (which I do once a fortnightish) I eat 2500+ calories to refuel to stay in maintenance . I can not see how you could only be eating on average 1600 calories and not be losing weight if you are walking 10 hours straight. How are you actually measuring your food intake? My guess is that your logging is inaccurate and you are eating more than you think.
