Y'all,
I'm desperate for some help/ideas/etc. I'm 5 mo postpartum. i worked out literally every day of my pregnancy and almost everyday since having my daughter. I do probably the average of 50 mins a day- crossfit, hitt, light weights, walking, & running. I eat pretty healthy and I did whole30 during the month of June (didn't lose any weight). I haven't lost any weight since leaving the hospital after having my daughter. I'm just so frustrated. I don't know what to do. My thyroid levels are fine. I am exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice or thoughts? Thank you!!!

Eating healthy doesn't mean you'll lose weight. Eating less than you burn does. Are you counting calories?3

Yes I did for awhile and I averaged around 2000 a day. I stopped because it was taking extra time and making me more frustrated. I'm definitely burning more than I intake. My Fitbit says 2800 burned a day (which isn't necessarily accurate but has to be in the ballpark). My only guess is that it's something hormonal?0

If you aren't weighing your food and logging correct entries (no homemade or generic) then you are probably eating at maintenance calories if you haven't lost.1

I've heard from lots of mom friends, that while they're nursing the weight doesn't budge - not til after they've stopped nursing. But on the other hand I've heard from others they drop weight like crazy while nursing. It sounds like you're doing every thing "right," maybe it's just what your body is doing during this time.. with the nursing and hormones. Don't give up though, it'll happen one day!2

When I was breastfeeding I found it extremely hard to lose, once I stopped I did drop a little more. Apparently your body holds on to extra fat stores when nursing? As long as your eating a balanced diet, and exercising, I wouldn't worry too much as once your finished feeding you can really focus on weight loss. I stopped 4 months ago.1

Thanks everyone!0

It's a combination of your breastfeeding and CICO. It's still very early in your pp journey for you to be dropping all this weight. You can stop exercising and focus on what you are eating and making sure everything is properly accounted for and weighed and then you may see results. Nursing your baby may hinder your goals a bit as well.1

I started losing weight as soon as I stopped nursing. Give it some time, don't get frastated.1

I am almost four months PP. I did a whole30 in September. This month I have been in & off, but my goal is Whole30ish (I’m allowing no gluten grains & legumes) M-Th while enjoying being flexible through the weekends. I am also exercising seven days a week. I’ve got about 8lbs to go, but have lost 40lbs since delivery.0
