I've been noticing that I'm hardly getting any potassium from what I eat. When I do it's not much. Does anyone have any tips to try and get more potassium into my diet?

Good sources of dietary potassium include:
    fruit, particularly bananas
    vegetables
    pulses
    nuts and seeds
    milk
    fish
    shellfish
    beef
    chicken
    turkey
    bread

An avocado has way more potassium than a banana. Spinach is another great source.

If you're going off MFP, you're guaranteed to be getting way more than you think. The vast majority of entries in the database will have the potassium set at 0 regardless of whether it has potassium or not. This is either because the information isn't available, or the person who entered it didn't bother to add it. Either way, take a day and google "potassium in..." for each of the foods you logged. I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Current US labeling rules don't require companies to include Potassium in the Nutrition Facts so you are likely getting more Potassium than it looks like you are.

The new US Nutrition Facts that are rolling out will show Potassium. Even then, you'll need to double-check the MFP entries you use to make sure that whoever entered the info into the database entered the Nutrition Facts correctly and included Potassium.

Just what I was going to say.

True. For instance USDA has 252 mg in a 4 oz. rib eye steak, but I couldn't find a steak in the MFP database that had any listed.
