Slow Weight Loss

Hey,my name is theresa and i am 53 years old.I have thyroid problems and i had hip surgery in 2003.I am disabled and i take care of my mom and my 14 year old nephew in our home.I have my own workout gym in our home so that is great.I work out 3-4 days a week when i am not in pain.I weigh 169 pounds.I was up to 186. but i lost 17 pounds so far.i had lost 22 pounds but i gained some back because of extreme hip pain.I am supossed to have surgery on my other hip but i have not.Weight loss has been slow.Before i was diagnosed with thyroid problems i weighed 150.I want to get back to 145 or 150.I gained so much weight and the doctors have adjusted my meds 4-5 times in the last 3 years.Does anyone here have thyroid problems and slow weight loss?

This is seriously something that you need to take up with your physician and/or a clinical dietician. Without knowing your medical history, how much pain you are experiencing, and what type of diet you should be on for you medication, there is not much info on this subject that anyone could give you in good conscience. I would get a referral by your physician to see a clinical dietician and discuss this with them.0

Yes, clinical advice is obviously a must- but to me it sounds like one or two things.
One- You probably don't eat enough. And two - when you do, you probably over eat! However I have heard of dormant thyroids leading to slower metabolisms, but that would just mean you need to work extra hard about what goes in your mouth.
If you are dedicated, my thoughts would think you could figure out what you need to do. In all seriousness though it sounds like you don't eat enough, or if you do- you eat the bad stuff!
I know how those 14 year old guys eat...lol it aint easy to eat healthy beside them
I know probably what you don't want to hear, but something has got to give!
In addition- it sounds like your trying to lose it all at once. Stop trying so hard! Your stressing yourself out! Eat right and exercise when you can- MFP will tell you your BMR if you are doing nothing and you can still lose weight! It does mean eat less! And if you add exercise, well congrats because you just earned yourself some extra calories!0 -
