Would you track calories on your birthday??? :)

Yes. Holidays coming up too. Don't quit logging1

Nope. Losing is a matter of balancing life with my goals. If having a good time on my birthday is going to make me feel badly about my goals, it is a lose/lose. My anniversary, birthday and fourth of July all fall within a couple weeks. I don't stress that time of year. I have been working on weight loss for a few years now and feel that over time it has been easier to relax around certain times of year. Once you know what works, you stress less about a few days here and there.2

I make myself log even if I hate to see the result. Sometimes I purposely don't log right away, hoping it will go away...
But at the end of the day I log it anyways. If I don't recall the numbers I over estimate what I ate and log that.
I have gone over with a 1000 calories before and all that mean that the next day I work out harder and don't eat those calories back, or I eat less. I even it out one way or the other.
The thing is, it will keep you aware. Just because you log doesn't mean you can't go over that day/weekend.1 -
I always track my birthdays. They usually come at 3000+ calories, which I know and I'm fine with. I like having numbers even if I'm not actively trying to control calories.1

I would almost certainly go over my calories, but I would also definitely log them - not logging indulgences would be the beginning of the end of my maintenance.1

I'm thinking my next birthday I should challenge myself. Log everything and see just how badly I can do. See if I can hit 7500 for the day

Yes I track everyday...doesn’t matter if I ate way over or way under. You can’t make educated and valid decisions based on data that isn’t complete and accurate.
That said, I had my birthday cake with no regrets. And my birthday meals (they were spread out some). Having one tomorrow that I am working into my week (free burger at Red Robin). This is a lifestyle so you have to make habits you can keep up for life.0 -
Yes. But then I wouldn't eat at all until dinner time either cause I know it will be awesome and I'll want to enjoy it.0

I track it, but I don't worry if I'm over my goal. Even way over. As long as it's one day, not a week's worth of "It's my birthday, so I deserve to eat All the Things."0

I don't usually make a big deal about my birthday, so it's just another day to me. I haven't gotten a birthday cake in several years, and I might eat one piece if I did, but to me it's just another day. If I plan to go out to eat, I do what I always do when I plan to go out to eat - eat at a larger deficit leading up to it. Most times I just don't eat that day until I go out.1

Go ahead and splurge for your Birthday and then the day after get back on track ? say to yourself I can do this Cause I'm awesome.0

My birthday is in about 2 weeks i plan on staying strict. Last time it was my birthday I ended up taking a 2 month break and gained a bunch of weight. I want to get to my goal and not lose focus.1

If you decide to take a logging break just remember to set an end time for it ahead of time. You may need one day or three or whatever. Just take the break and then resume your new eating/exercise habits knowing that you will need an equivalent amount of time or even double that time to erase its effects. One day does not a lifetime make.
I'm working on undoing a 12-day no logging, fast food laden and restaurant meals trip. I resumed healthy eating and logging the morning after we got home. I've been back on track for 9 days now and am almost at the low weight of the week before I left -- in my case, a 12 pound swing! Another couple days and I will be losing "new pounds" again. Yes, I delayed my progress but it isn't stopping!1 -
Birthdays haven't been too special here for the past few years, so I treat it like any other day.2

Happy Birthday to ya! I didn't log calories on my birthday this year but last year I did and it amounted to just over 7,000 calories and I was okay with that. Ultimately it's up to you...it's your day, do what thy will.0

I logged my birthday, and I logged some things on my vacation, but I was a lot more relaxed with my logging/eating habits. Once we got back though, I got right back to logging/eating more strictly.0
-
I still log as accurate as I can but I don't worry about how over my calories I was. It's my day and I'm going to enjoy it... and my cake!0

No way! I'm 35 and I still count down to my birthdays. The people, the food, and all of it for me. I hope to celebrate and enjoy them for the rest of my life.3 -
Very interesting views everyone! So, in the end, I logged everything. All 3000 calories!!! I don't know how many days will I need to recover from it but it was worth it!!2

Good for you. I wish I could say the same.0
