Fatty Liver

Hello,
I've been having a lot of pain on my right side and the DR thought it was my gallbladder. Turns out my gallbladder is fine. I have fatty liver which is causing me to be miserable. I was told I need to lose weight and cut out sugars and all unhealthy foods. The thought of me having fatty liver scares me. I'm also a diabetic now too. Time to get myself back into a healthy weight and state of mind. If never ever motivated me before theses diagnosis will.

You can do it.
One day at a time.2 -
Have the doctor refer you to a registered dietitian to help you figure out an sustainable eating plan for you (simply cutting out x foods might not work in the long run
)

I've been at it for 3 years and I will be at it for the rest of my life. I've lost 35kg (nearly 80lbs) and only have 10-15kg more to lose. At my last check up, there was no sign of my fatty liver and my nearly diabetes level blood sugar was no where to be found.
The only food I now only touch with a 10ft pole (and even then very very very rarely) is alcohol. I've slowly reintroduced all the rest and can now eat it in proper quantities for my size and activity level.
Good luck! You can do this!3 -
I agree with cmriverside, day by day, with determination, you will succeed.0

Hey EmberGloww you and I are cruising in the same boat. I was diagnosed with fatty liver (high liver enzymes) but thank God no pain and pre-diabetic
, high triglycerides and high cholesterol (gotta love the family history). I to was told that same old mantra “lose weight & exercise”. So here I am. I’ve let myself go for to many years and now time to “pay the piper” so-to-speak. Gonna be a long haul but as cmriverside says one day at a time...hourly goals to daily goals in the beginning. My biggest challenge is incorporating the exercise. So take heart, you’re not alone.

I agree, there is nothing like a diagnosis to galvanise the mind. You can and will do it, it will not happen over night but you will get there, its in your own best interest after all. There are some good sites which address fatty liver, medical ones, not everyone has this problem because of alcohol. (I found it helpful to read about my issues and really understand them). As you progress to a healthier you, you should find not only do the liver symptoms subside but the diabetes will too. You have everything to gain. Not everyday will be easy, having a less good one goes with the territory. Keep it to one if you can, get back to what you will have learned/know is right as soon as you can. If you have the opportunity to be referred to a registered dietitian, take it. Life will be much better.1
