I'm thinking about getting one of these. My hubby wants the Xbox, but its more than 2x the price. Just wondering what y'all think in terms of exercise and fitness and which one to get?
Thanx!

Get the Xbox with Kinect. The Kinect tracks full body movement which can track a better range of exercises as opposed to the Wii where you just wave a controller. The Wii has more games atm but give Kinect a little time as they are developing fitness games based on UFC and more.0

we have both, and I have the WiiFit. My husband wants to buy me the Kinect for the Xbox 360, but I'm very content with the Wii. So I'm just going to stick with that. and like you said, Wii is cheaper... and it's more kid friendly.0

Xbox if you're going to get the kinex... it's really cool! We have both, husband has xbox and I have Wii... they are both awesome.0

My boyfriend has both an xbox and a wii but we only have "exercise-type" games for the wii. I would recommend the wii, its soo fun! Even games that aren't meant to be exercise games turn into them, for example we have a game where you can play baseball, tennis, bowling, fencing, etc. and you can play against your boyfriend. we get SO into it where we're sweating, red in the face, and sore. Wish I had a HRM to keep track of cals lost. You can get zumba and wii fit. Plus your boyfriend wants an xbox JUST so he can play those boy games like black ops, grand theft auto, halo, etc. If you buy an xbox he will be on it alllll the time (and no one wants that because then you won't be able to exercise on it). Just suggest that you start with the wii because of the price but add in that you can save and buy an xbox eventually.0

i have both and say definately the xbox with kinect(we no longer actually use the wii). i know its more expensive but it is a far better experience. you dont need a controller as you are the controller. alot of things you do on the wii doesnt register because of the controller where as the kinect sees everything you do.0

I like the Wii, and use the Wii fit pretty regularly. I like the tracking that it does for my health/fitness goals. Weight, BMI, scores on the different activities. And it is very kid and family friendly.0

I have both! I use the Wii for all my fitness games as Kinect is a bit picky with space and my bed is too near the TV for it to work. My Xbox is however great for my other games, like Halo, COD, Mass Effect and Need For Speed! The Wii certainly couldn't compete with the graphics.
My advice would be to get Xbox with Kinect, providing you have plenty of room in front of the TV, otherwise you'll be very limited to the games you can play on it, in which case go for the Wii.0 -

Well from a technical perspective the Xbox is a higher end system with better graphics.. and now that the kinect is out I can say I'm truely impressed with it.. prior to this I would have said Wii due to the revolutionary game play even though less than HD graphics..
But ultimatly it comes down to what you want to do with it and your own personal preferences.. just like a gym membership if you never go it doesn't matter which one you have.. so whichever one you want to use is the one to get each have their own pro's and cons..
Hope that helps a little -- good luck..0 -
XBOX w/Kinect! Xbox is more powerful and can handle harder gaming better than the WII , he can also communicate and play games with his buddys over the internet - there is also ALOT more games for xbox that your husband would like.
PLUS you get the fitness & fun aspect w/the Kinect. So you both win!
You may also be satisfied workout out with the WII because the WiiFit is awesome!
But your husband will get easily bored with the limited selection of serious gaming games on the Wii
it'll be way cooler for your husband to get the XBOX - that way you both win!

Xbox with Kinect ... Hands Down! I had both. Once I picked up the Kinect, Wii felt so elementary. I couldn't play it anymore so I sold it.
Best of luck to ya,

Xbox Kinect for sure! I have one but also my sister has both the Wii and Xbox Kinect...she said that the Kinect is much better at picking up movements. :bigsmile:0

Thanks everyone! I may not have a choice if my honey picks it up before me, but it sounds like the Xbox is a good choice, anyhow!
Loving all the love   :happy:0 -
I have the xbox kinect fitness and I love it. It counts the calories you burn right on the screen. It has cardio boxing, toning, sculpting ,Zen and many more exercises and fitness games. Its a great combo for myfitnesspal. You can work out in your own home at your own pace with your own personal trainer.. The Xbox kinect Zumba fitness is also great to for the ladies!0

I have a Wii bought 2 years ago with Wii Fit (or Wii Fat as its known in our house) and I bought Kinect with Your Shape Fitness Evolved a month ago.
Kinect is everything I wanted the Wii to be.
The only plus point about the Wii is that its cheaper. You get what you pay for. The Wii was a waste of money because it doesn't get used.
The Wii is MEAN! I don't want it to tell me I'm fat when I get weighed. I know I'm overweight this is why I'm hear.
Kinect is far better - you can't cheat, it corrects your technique during the work out. With YSFE you can pick many different types of activity - short workouts, long ones and it just does the positive stuff. Yay you've worked out everyday or Yay you've burned *** calories in total. Its much nicer and you don't have to worry about charged wiimotes or wiimotes getting the way.
Better graphics on the Kinect too and player recognition.
The sports game is a cut above Wii sports. Especially boxing - no yanking the wires out of the nunchuck if you have long arms!0
