I’m on dialysis for chronic kidney failure. I need to lose 20 pounds in order to get a kidney transplant! I’m working out and TRYING to eat healthier....anyone have any ideas on what’s the fastest way to lose 20lbs? Diet plan? TIA!

My dad is dealing with the same and is working with a register dietician as your body can't filter as well. He's mostly eating fish and veggies, limited salt, and no animal protein. I think you should work with a registered dietitian4

Are you doing hemo or PD? Are you labs under control? You should have a dietician where ever you are going. Cut sugars and saturated fats0

As with the above poster, my Dad went through this. Because of the special concerns with your body filtering things and fluids, you really need to speak to a dietitian and your doctor about this.1

With kidney failure your potassium, water intake, sodium and magnesium need to be spot on for you.
No-one here can safely advise you. Ask your Doctor for a referral to a dietitian
I hope you get your transplant and wishing you good health.2 -
