Last night I could not sleep and still managed to get to boot camp at the gym @ 8:15am. I pushed myself till it burned and I felt like I had no air. I was sweating so hard I couldn’t even scratch bc my arms and fingers were dripping with sweat. And while all the other ladies ran circles around me I kept telling myself, “I’m competing with myself.... I’m not who I was yesterday when I was at Chick-fil-A ordering large fries made by the lovely angels who gladly gave me 3 packets of bbq sauce.” My goal for today is to avoid Chick-fil-A and to only stick to water. I promised not to complain out loud during workout or tell myself “I can’t do that exercise...” (that was difficult but I managed with just screaming and grunting) and I also will push myself to take the stairs and utilize the farthest parking spot possible to get the most steps in for the day. It’s a small goal list but I’m not going to weigh myself down with even more weight of a burden of 20 things on my list. “One day at a time......”

Good work. It will never get easier, but you will get better.

Build good, life-long habits, love yourself and discipline yourself like a good parent would (read: don't punish yourself endlessly, be kind), inch forward and know that each little thing you do (substituting water for pop, choosing a grilled chicken salad instead of fries, working hard at the gym) makes you that much closer to the person you want to be.

    Welcome to the grind.

    Take it slow.

Pushing yourself in excess on Day One will lead to burn out. Conquer the eating habits first by dedicating yourself to logging every day, every morsel that goes into your mouth. You won't be able to exercise off all the excess calories, so practice better eating. Walking is a good exercise to begin with, and then add light weights, then build up in endurance and good habit towards different exercise programs. Rome was not built in a day and neither were the pounds you are trying lose.

......... love yourself and discipline yourself like a good parent would (read: don't punish yourself endlessly, be kind),
