My Mexico reward- where to go?

So next spring my cousin/best friend and I are leaving our kids with our parents and taking a vacation. This is a) for some long overdue relaxation and b) my reward to myself for going and looking hot in a two-piece that ISN'T a tankini. It will just be the two of us (ages 23 and 24) and we are planning on doing an all-inclusive type thing.

So, since neither of us have even been to Mexico, what part has the best resort and is most laid back? Besides relaxation, we want to be able to have a wild time we can't come home and tell anyone about :) I've been told Playa Del Carmen is good and some places even allow you to be topless on the beach? We are wanting to book soon and need recommendations...

Go to one with allot of Americans around! I am not to fond of Mexico at the moment, I think if I stayed in this side of the world South America would be a good option due to the violence in Mexico.

But the typical resorts around the gulf areas should all be calm.

I spent a lot of time in Playa del Carmen and it's gorgeous. Yes, there are topless beaches toward the end of the strip. I also spent a lot of time in Cozumel, which I love, love, love, but I'm not sure of any all-inclusive resorts there. I heard that Cabo San Lucas has a really nice all inclusive resort. I would search for the resort first and then decide which one according to where it is. I would stay away from the middle of Mexico and stick to the touristy areas for obvious reasons.

Playa del Carmen is great! Try to find a resort as close to the actual town as possible so you can hit the clubs at night. You can be topless on any beach because the beaches are public.... that being said, locals are quite conservative so I personally avoided going topless on Sunday (when lots of locals are at the beach) or on parts of the beach that had lots of local people and children. our resort was called Grand Coco Bay... it was only 3.5 stars but honestly it was perfect... every room had ocean views because it is a small resort... which also makes everything really accessible. Our resort was about a 15-20 minute walk to Playa del Carmen and it was lovely... however, on the walk to town we saw lots of other resorts that looks nice... especially the ones that were little huts on the beach that all had hammocks... sorry I don't know the names of any of these other resorts.

Obviously Cancun is also good for a party trip.

When I go to Mexico (which is frequently) I go to the Palace Resorts. I suggest the Sun Palace (adults only) not too far from fun stuff in Cancun. It's 15 minutes from the airport. It's the #4 hotel in Cancun.

Mexico is safe as long as you are not part of the drug trade near the US border. Be smart, don't get so wasted you forget your manners and your surroundings. If you go and look for Trouble, Trouble will find YOU!

    Have a great time.

OK, another question. When is the best/cheapest time to go? Speaking in terms of weather and if they have an "off-season".

Go between November 15 and December 23. Less people, fine weather, extra attention for service.

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Maya or the El Dorado. Neither of these are cheap but its top of the line service and food. The best accomodations. 2 thumbs up!!!
Dang now I want to go.
