Good Morning -

I am new to this forum, but thought I would give it a try. Currently 32 M, 5'9 364. Have been highly successful at losing 10 lbs and gaining 20 for the last few years. I have 3 kids, ages 2 4 and 6 and realizing I have put off my change for long enough.

I am taking my family to Disney in June, and nervous that (1) I will be too big to take them on rides and (2) I will slow us down or hinder us with all the walking. My goal is to be under 300 by June.

My activity level is basically non existent, I work a job that requires me to be at a desk 8-10 hours a day. Add that to an hour/90 min drive each way I spend a ton of time sitting. I am struggling to find ways to get my steps in or any exercise.

Just started back with MFP yesterday, trying to stay at 1700 cals a day or less.

Anyone in a similar spot? My wife is maybe slightly overweight, but she is the "has 10 to lose" shape and doesn't quite get the mountain I am facing. Just seeing if anyone else is in the same spot.

You can try using your lunch time to maybe walk outside if weather permits or just take a walk around your work place.

Also have you read about Intermittent Fasting (IF)? It's a nice way to lose weight because you usually skip one to two meals a day. Example the 16/8 schedule has you fasting for 16 hours then only eating (quality food) for 8 hours. IF works even without exercise but works better with some form of exercise. Some people do the 20/4 schedule a.k.a The Warrior Diet but if you're not use to skipping meals then start off with the 16/8 and choose a meal to skip like breakfast.

I've been doing IF for two and half months now and for the first three weeks I didn't exercise or count calories and I still lost weight. Now I count calories (30 days of counting) and I weight train Mon-Thurs (for one hour) always in a fasted state for a month and a half now.

Im not in the same spot but ill second the walk when you can mindset. The tiny things really truely add up fast. Nothing super huge and drastic needs to happen, Every step you take or set of stairs you climb adds up over the day pretty effortlessly.

As you work on beter eating habits, Just keep in the back of your mind to get up and move. Whether it be a 20 minute walk in the morning ( I love waking up to a walk its peaceful in the morning and sets me up for a much more active healthy mindset day)...Take the stairs vs an elevator. Walk a few circles around your block when you have time. Walk at lunch. Park at a further away parkign spot and walk in to stores. etc etc etc. Baby steps. Drastic changes in drastic time frames tend to cause drastic fails lol.

Side note, Learn to look inwards for support. In my past experiences and i mean this in the most undepressing way possible though i find it true, People will let you down. Say i get a diet buddy. We do good for a while but they fall off the wagon. Im then basically 100% likely to do the exact same because i hadnt set myself up to support myself. MY willpower came from another person. My determination to do it for myself was never built.

Edited to add: Same goes for reverse, They are also leaning on me not building their own internal support so the chances of failing are equal and much higher lol

Your your best friend in life, Only you can do it. NO one can do it for you. Sure make simillar minded friends, But remember your doing it for yourself.

I’m 38 and work 12hrs a day Monday - Friday in Security. I have to get up and walk around, regular external patrols, taking mail to post room etc. You have to move around. I’ve recently joined my local gym as I feel I need this resurgence too. My current mindset is keep my targets small as they’re easier to achieve, all these hits will add up to a lot over time, but it will take us time, effort and determination.
Refinding you mojo and reuploading your app to me shows you want to do it, make a few changes, stick to your plan and go get what you plan. Good luck mate.
