Eating

What time would you say is the best to stop eating in the day? I get off at 4:30, go home head to the gym by 6:30 and get back home by 9. I feel like 9pm may be to late to eat.

I usually do not like to eat that late other than a quick 100 cal snack. My preference. I sleep better if I do not have a super full stomach. You may want to restructure your meal times so you can eat before hitting the gym. Whatever you decide, be sure to log the calories, and stay within your calorie goals.

Its best to refuel some after the gym. I eat till just before i sleep. Just make sure you stay within your calorie goals. Eating at night wont make you fat if youre in an overall caloric deficit.1 -
Meal timing is irrelevant - you can eat when you like! I eat most of my calories after 730pm most days and have no issues losing7

Unless eating right before sleep disturbs your sleep, eat whenever you want. Meal timing is not relevant for weightloss, despite what you might read in magazines.5

Why do you feel that?
What do you think is the significance to you, or people in general, of 9pm or any other time as a cut off point?3 -
When you go to bed (barring medical issues that may come from eating late). Thursday nights this time of year I don’t usually eat until 9:30-10.3

Meal timing doesn't matter. Number of calories matter. If you have already eaten all of your calories by the day at 6 pm, that's the best time to stop eating unless you earn more with exercise. Sometimes I go out dancing (swing dance) until 2 am and burn up a few hundred extra calories and eat those at 2:30 AM. If you're within your calorie limit, it doesn't matter when you eat them.3

when youre hungry.
i eat a small breakfast before i leave for the gym (oatmeal packet) around 5:30/6 am. at 9 when i get to work, i have my yogurt and hardboiled eggs.
lunch anywhere between 11-1, then dinner about 6 when i get home.
sometimes a snack (usually fruit) after lunch, i always plan one but i dont always necessarily eat it.0 -

Meal timing doesn't help you/prevent you from losing weight. It's all about calorie intake. Find a schedule that helps you meet your calorie goal on a consistent basis.2 -

When I was losing weight (lost 95 lbs), I ate dinner at 9 or after almost every day, since I get home late. It was fine. Claims that it makes a difference if you eat dinner at 6 vs. 9 are silly (and also are out of touch with many people's lifestyles -- I have never had a job where I could eat at 6).2 -
Anyway, meal timing matters only to the extent it affects your ability to keep a deficit and your sleep.1

I personally like to make sure I have room to eat something susbstantial after my workout, regardless of the time.
I usually feel like I recover faster and don’t feel so depleted the next day, which means I’m more likely to get my butt to the gym again the next day0 -
I go to bed about 11-12 and a snack at 9-10 pm would not bother me. I don't think I would eat a whole pizza right before going to bed but otherwise it doesn't seem to bother me to eat at night.
I eat dinner at 6 pm.
Do you have sleep problems or something? Why not eat before going to the gym?

When you run out of calories for the day would be optimal, although some days that won't work out. But basically eat what fits your schedule.0

Thanks for these comments guys. I usaually have not consumed my calorie intake after the gym and that's why I was eating when I got home. People were telling me to not eat after 6pm. But I see now it doesn't make a difference1
