Happy weekend everyone! My name is Josh, I'm 22 from Melbourne, Australia. I've been on MFP for years, but never really been active on the message boards - thought I'd give it a crack!

A bit about me:
I work full time in HR/Payroll, and I'm currently in my final semester of a double degree in Law and Business (HR). I'm currently single, and I bat for the other time so to speak. I enjoy music, podcasts (hit me up with recommendations), walking my dog (when we aren't getting swooped by those damn magpies) and any other fun stuff (doing an escape room tonight - woo!).

In terms of weight, I've been a yo-yo for my whole life. This time last year I had just come back from studying abroad, and I was 110kgs. With the help of Duromine, I got my appetite under control and got into the gym, and the lowest I got down to was 92kgs (which I was pretty stoked with). Earlier this year I had a lot of personal things going on, and this saw me lose a lot of the motivation and determination that was driving me. I am currently sitting at 100kgs, and pretty annoyed that I let myself get into the triple digits again.

My goals:
I just started another course of Duromine. My plan is to use it over the next two months to get my appetite and eating under control. By then I will have finished uni, so hopefully I can dedicate more time to fitness and maintaining the healthy lifestyle I am trying to build for myself. My ideal is probably around 90kgs, bit more toned and just overall healthy.

So thanks for reading my essay. Feel free to shoot me an add if you're in Melbourne/Australia, or if you'd just like to come along for the journey. Any support is good support :)

Josh

  • Hey Josh :) Im in Geelong, looking for some people to follow and inspire/motivate me!
Ive used this app on and off for about 4 years now and like yourself, have never used (or even looked at) these message boards!
Im 30, a mum of 2 girls (4yo and almost 1yo), previously a nurse, but now a stay at home mum at least until both the kids are at school.
Have had weight issues all my life- would love to lose about 50kg but i find weight loss difficult as i have a tendency to lack motivation.
Interested to hear more about your experience with duramine. From your post, im assuming it is an appetite suppressant?

Hi Chelsea! Thanks for the reply :) Yikes, those two young girls would keep you busy.

Yep, Duromine is an appetite suppressant. This link will give you a good overview: https://www.phentermine.com/duromine.htm.

There can be some pretty gnarly side effects though, depends on the person. I'm pretty lucky insofar as the side effects are usually pretty tame. It is a temporary fix though, I find it useful to start off the weight loss, and get myself into healthier eating habits. The last time I was on Duromine I probably lost about 10kgs, then stopped it because the side effects were getting to me (I felt hazy, and my emotions were all over the place). But I already had the motivation from the 10kg weight loss so I went on to lose another 8kg. I don't ever want to take it again (after this dose) - no more yo-yo!
  • Hmm sounds like duromine probably wouldnt be for me lol i have depression and anxiety disorder- my mood is already hard enough to keep in check lol although im sure everyone experiences different side effects... will keep it in mind anyway :)

Hi there Josh & Chelsea, I am in Melbourne too and back on the duromine as well - i lost 8kgs first time, 12kgs 6mths later and -2.5 years on (and kid #2) Im back to being the biggest mum at kinder and so this time is my last to change my habits. Im using all the knowledge Ive gained to assist in getting my addiction to sugar kicked and my portions way down.

The side effects are not great, my doc made me have an ecg first (Im 41, work ft and have a 5yo & 11m old). Ive had dizziness, nausea and become snappy with my hubby on them but he wants me to be the healthier me so is going to cop it for the 3months. Bless him!

I wish you both all the best and hope we can all be strong and healthy for long happy lives.
