Picture a day - who's done it? Did it help?

I love seeing those 2 or 3 minute videos of people's progress by using either a picture a day or a one second video a day. I've been up and down these last few years and really getting tired of it. Yes, I know motivation is fleeting and discipline is necessary. Just thought this might be something that helps.

For background, I dropped about 85 lbs and kept it off for several years, then I hit 50 yrs old and slowly gained 25 lbs back. It's been a struggle for the last few years.

And as I get closer to my birthday, I'll be 56 in a couple of weeks, I thought this might be something that helps me see progress. And when I turn 57 next year, I'll be fit again.

Oh, I have an Android phone, so I'll need recommendations on an app. 365 photo gets mixed reviews.

I wish I had started this at the beginning of my journey, sounds like a great idea!

Right now I have two sets of photos - I've been reshaping my habits since July, did my first set of photos at the end of August (so nearly 2 months in), and did a follow up set last month and plan on doing them monthly here on in.

The first set was really depressing. I could have cried, honestly, but I saved them and kept on with my life and habit changing without looking at them until the next set. It made a huge difference because I'm at the point now where I'm 25lbs down but I can't tell really, but the difference is there in the photos. I'm less thick in the middle, i've lost an entire spare tire from the 2.5 I started with. My posture is improving.

I don't have the energy to do a daily photo, though I have seen the videos. Monthly works for me, but I also track by scale and by measurements. If a daily photo helps your accountability? awesome! If not, monthly really might be worth it!

I'm going to do it. If I miss a day, I'm not going to sweat it, but I think by seeing a picture every day, it will keep me on the right track. I may also include pictures of my activities. Me on my bike, entering the gym, or if it happens, empty candy wrappers. It's going to be just for my viewing - I don't need the world seeing me in my bra. LOL

I didn't take daily progress photos, but I did take regular ones and YES they do help!! Immensely. A picture shows you vivid change.

Taking all kinds of pictures of myself has helped me accept my body exactly as it is. How do you think taking pictures is going to help you?

I'm doing this right now. I take three pictures every morning. Then I put them together in a collage using fotor. The whole process takes about five minutes from start (no photos) to finished collage. I use a little cheap tripod and stand in pretty much the same place each time.

It already helps me, twenty-five days in, to see a little progress. I don't have a lot of weight to lose compared to some, but the progress is already a little visible. I think it also helps me to keep a little morning routine and focus on my goals for the day.

Anyone want support? Feel free to add me as a friend. My diary is open, my eating is "normal" instead of superhuman and I enjoy trying to support others.

    Cheers!
