i tried searching the forums first but found it hard to find anything with high calorie.
i am working to loose quite a lot of weight but i don't want to loose to fast. i want it to be healthy and to stick!
i am finding that i am having a hard time reaching my calorie allowance for the day (set so i loose 1 pound a week) i am also having trouble getting enough protein.
for instance today after dinner i will have 543 calories left and be a touch deficient in protein. i had two big handfuls of nuts as a snack late in the afternoon to boost up the protein and fill up some calories.
any other suggestions? i should add i would like to keep sugar down as i have a bit of a problem with my sugar going over. also, i am allergic to flax so most natural ingredient packaged snack/protein products are out.

open up your diary..so we can take a look. I do protein shakes..and Cliff bars...but without looking at your diary..its hard to make recommendations0

peanut butter + celery + craisins/raisins0

An idea I got from someone here was:
6 triscuits
1 babybel light cheese
9 Hormel turkey pepperoni
It makes a filling snack with 205 calories and 14 grams of protein! My diary is open to friends, feel free to poke around!0 -
edamame beans, things with almond butter on them0

almond butter, almonds, peanut butter, avocados, salmon, olive oil.. most people that can't make their calorie goal aren't eating enough healthy fats in their diet!
salmon = high protein & fat
add almond butter or peanut butter or nuts into non-fat greek yogurt
avocado goes with everything!
dress up salads & veggies with olive oil and eat with a serving of lean protein (chicken, fish, etc)
Quest Protein Bars - can be ordered online @ AllStarHealth.com (high protein, high fat (from almonds), high fiber, gluten free)0 -
High protein snacks - greek yogurt, kefir, almond butter are some off the top of my head. But I already take in protein shakes and on occasion protein bars.0

The two big handfuls of nuts was a great start. If you put some nut butter on some multigrain bread, you can increase your fiber, your protein and calories at the same time.
Cheese is another good option.0 -

Eggs and steak. Can't really go wrong with that combination.0 -

That it is. I like my eggs and steak eaten at the same time. It feels more hearty that way. Like a southern breakfast.0 -

That might be good first thing in the morning. That way, she won't need high protein, high calorie snacks at night! Excellent suggestion. If you get started early, then maybe you'll just need some string cheese in the evening or something.0 -

My thoughts exactly. Relieves any kind of urgency to splurge late at night. String cheese right before bed usually keeps most feeling satisfied.0 -

these are some awesome recommendations!
i opened up my food diary so it is viewable by everyone.
that said i have only been on here for 3 weeks. i am 33 years old and have been over weight my entire life. this is my first ever try at any form of altering my diet. for the first 2 weeks i was mainly just trying to calorie count. for the last 3 days i have been trying to pay attention to my nutrients and start forming a good plan of how i should be eating. in other words try and not be to judgement of my poor choices as i am in a somewhat fragile yet very determined place in this whole process.0 -
High protein, high calorie = NUTS. Almonds, pistachios, etc.0
