I hear ya. At my office, we have Friday "treat days" (breakfast provided - usually doughnuts or something high-calorie), monthly "cake days" and catered lunches too.

If it's a food that I like, I work it into my calorie goal. If it's a type of cake that I'm "meh" about, I just eat a protein bar while everyone else gets a slice. I usually get prodded a bit by some coworkers ("What, you're not having any? Just have a little slice!") and I just politely smile and say no thanks. No biggie.

Is it good cake or just okay cake?

I love certain types of sheet cake. My work will tell us when "cake day" is coming up and I'll save calories just for that crappy sheet cake. Worth it.

Whenever my office has cake, it's always some cake from the grocery store...not impressed, and not tempted.

I have been known to take a slice/doughnut/whatever, have a bite or two then drench the rest in water and salt.
