Has anyone piled up extensive miles with one of these things?

It turns out that my corporate gym bought one several months ago (not sure why). Hardly anyone uses it because they're used to the powered treadmill, but it has some interesting features:

- It is un-powered and thus goes at whatever pace you set. Also,

- The belt is curved. (It actually has to be curved also to keep you in once place, as it is un-powered.)

- The motion is very smooth (at least when its well maintained!)

I have run on it a bit, but it didn't immediately make me want to switch from a powered treadmill. But I'm attracted to the fact that it's un-powered. Are there any devotees out there?

We have Assault Air Runners at our gym - no powered treadmills.

All of our running in the workouts is supposed to be done outside - but sometimes the weather isn’t cooperative. That’s the main reason for them, it closer simulates the challenge of running outside better than powered treadmills.
