Hi I'm finally accepting that all other methods are short term fixes and have decided to really figure out a diet and exercise combo that works.....feel free to add and share any methods that have worked for you

Dump the word diet all together.

Just eat the right amount of food that fits your goal.

When I finally came to the same realization that you describe I made a pledge to myself that whatever food I ate it was going to be 'regular' food. It's taken a while to train myself but in the end it's working. I'm down 50.6 pounds from my starting weight and am finally not relying on anything but my own cooking of whole foods. The trick to losing weight is eat less, move more, keep breathing.

I cook all my food from scratch.....no sauces or ready made ..a.habit I picked up from slimming world and even though I don't follow it as a diet i cook the same....my downfall is sugar and prosecco....deadly combo

Nothing wrong with sugar or presecco, you just have to keep enough calories to enjoy them.

I work on weekly calories saving 200ish a day to use at weekends.

I need to rethink what and when I eat as I'm so guilty of starving all day then munching once I'm home...especially while I'm cooking in the kitchen.......need to make time when I'm working

Planning ahead will save you a lot of stress. I try to plan all my meals the day before and I usually have set times of the day I eat my meals. I'm flexible too - if i'm hungry i'll eat a meal/snack sooner than planned if i'm not hungry i'll wait. But planning out your whole day of meals before will help you manage your time and stick to your calorie and macro goals.
