My son does NOT like the kid's club. I took a couple months off from the gym and did other things to work out because they would always call me back to get him. I tried again today. He was in there for about 45 minutes before they called me to get him. I guess he was fine until each time the door opened and it wasn't me. I guess he would lose it! It's just so hot outside and it seems there's no end in sight so I really want to get him used to the club. Tomorrow I might try to bring him in for about 10 minutes while I stretch or something, then I'll go get him. Maybe the next day I'll try 15 minutes. Any other suggestions???

My kids didn't like the club at our gym either. We would spend more time going down to them, then we would working out. Then I found P90X and started working out at home.

I work the childwatch in our YMCA while parents work out. Thats a great idea. 10 minutes the first couple times so he gets the idea that its fun and mom comes right back. Then slowly add time to it. I know its a pain for you but it wont take long. Keep coming frequently until he does adjust. We often see kids get used to us then parents dont come back for a few days and we start all over. Can he have a snack while there? Perhaps a treat that he normally doesnt get thats just for kids club. Or his favorite toy that he has to "watch over" while youre gone.

my daughter didn't like the club when I went to a gym either and she was very young. What worked for me was taking her for about a half hour before they closed and just playing with her so she saw it was a fun place. I didn't get my workouts in on those days but a few days of that and I could leave her. What you have planned sounds good too as I worked in a daycare and we would do that with new children to get them used to coming.

I would suggest the YMCA. They have classes geared toward different aged kids(gymnastics, swimming, martial arts, etc).

What worked for my kids was I schedule my workouts around noon, it is less busy so they get to play with their favorite toys and the staff has more time with them.

But since this summer has been extremely hot, I don't even want to leave the house. Other than their usual summer sports, we stay home. Too many kids at the Y bothers my son. And DH travels a whole lot so I have no choice but to stay home. I do 30DS and do those workout videos on netflix and they actually workout with me.
