Festivals and healthy eating

I'm away to a music Festival in August, and it runs from Thursday to Monday.
It's a camping trip, so we're packing light. Campsite regulations, stemming from an incident a few years ago, ban the use of compressed gas, so we'll be cooking on Hexamine stoves.
So, 5 days in a field, fresh stuff will go off, no refrigeration available.
Dried stuff is often packed full of crap.
Canned stuff is heavy.
Van food is deep fried, coated in salt and probably deep fried a 2nd time!
Any ideas on how I can eat well? I know it's not gonna be perfect, but even damage limitation will help!

Edited after I read the OP..............sorry!!
Ok-lets see. Fruit like apples and bananas. Water for sure! Roasted corn no butter is always sold. I bet they have some fresh fruit kiosks for you.
Can you bring stuff for a protien shake? It would fill you for sure.
When my husband went hiking he bought tin foil packs of tuna, salmon and chicken for protien.
Luna bars, or similar type protien bars are good for this type of week.0 -
Oh and have fun!!! LOL
I bet you dance off all the fat anyway!!0 -
Where are you going? I've found the last few years at V festival there are better options from the vans, like salads and falafels, baked potatoes etc. The healthier options are usually there, you just have to steel your will power to go for them and not the yummy evil options! I did quite well on a jamaican stall last year that did jerk chicken (bbqed and no batter) and corn on the cob which was great. I also took cereal bars which helped mainly as at least with them you know what you are eating! You will probably struggle to stay really close to your goal but assume lots of walking around and staying warm you will burn more calories! I'd say your biggest diet danger there would be the booze.
Just try to be good, it's only a few days and it's hard in places like that, steer totally clear of the fish n chips and that kind of thing! Good luck and have a fun weekend :-)0 -
I tend to take cereal bars but as yet my festival resolve has been terrible, I think it's hard to actually eat well through the whole thing, especially with all the drinking so don't be too hard on yourself! There are loads more vans than there used to be too, you often get massive portions too so maybe splitting something with one of your friends instead of having the whole thing? You could take fresh stuff for the first night at least, one is better than none I suppose!0

Cereal/Nut bars, fruit, some tinned food might be ok like baked beans. And then maybe a meal a day at one of the vans or something !? Most festivals have vegetarian stalls as well they are iusually pretty healthy.
I usually drink about 2 weeks worth of calories when I go so I just let go for a few days And you probably won't sleep as much so that will raise your daily allowance !0 -
I want to say... liquid lunch... but i know this is wrong haha! Have a great time0

Thanks guys,
It's the Bloodstock metal festival, so I can probably expect a ton of running about and mosh pitting, but equal amounts of real ales!
Think I'll just go for damage limitation and enjoy myself, it's only a few days0
