Weight gain/water weight after 8k Race

I ran my first 8K race last Saturday and have been pretty sore since. I also have seen a 5lb weight gain since the race as well. Now I will admit I haven't been eating the best since the race and my birthday was this weekend as well, but 5 lbs from Saturday-Wednesday? I'm hoping its water weight from the race and will drop off soon.

it will, when you stop feeling sore.
sore means your muscles are retaining water.0 -
Soreness = muscle damage (even minor) = retaining water for repair1
