Hey, just looking for any ideas on good things to bring on a 5 day camping trip. Has to be able to keep either in the car or cooler for that long. I'm really looking to keep within my calories for the Kick the Crap Out of August Challenge!! Don't really want to eat hamburgers and hotdogs everyday.
Any ideas?

Hiya, great post, I would love some ideas too, as I'm off camping on Saturday. Can't wait for the ideas to come flooding in! Thanks everyone x0

Careful not to cut too many calories while camping! Depending on your activity level, you can burn a ton of calories per day! And in the wilderness, you'll need those calories.0

Fresh produce should keep since some of it doesn't need to be kept cold.
I don't camp much but go on lots of long boating trips and we always bring...
Hummus
Yogurt
Produce
Sandwhich stuff (turkey/ham, cheese condiments) (we put it in a few plastic bags so it doesn't get gross from ice melting water lol)
Chicken to grill
Salads (pasta salads work really well)
Hot dogs & Hamburgers
We also have made Naan pizza's before which are really good0 -
Turkey burgers are a yummy alternative. Also you can do turkey kielbasa, bacon, sausage, etc. Baby carrots stay good in a cooler along with grape tomatoes. I had a friend that used to bring her veggie burgers. Hummus stays well in the cooler and you can dip your carrots, tomatoes and celery in it. If you like soups - you could bring some of them - just watch the sodium. Good luck and have fun0

I've been camping alot this summer and it has been hard not having the roasted hotdogs and smores. I usually pack me a ready made salad in a ziplock for easy access and the same with cut up fruit. We always bring along a big watermelon too. With out camping trips there is always lots of activites going on so lots of calories burned if I did decide to endulge in the roasting. Have a great time and drink lots of water !0

We camp a lot and if your car/cooler are always near by (your not backpacking in somewhere)...fruits, veg and yogurt are easy to keep.
Ziploc omlets are fun for breakfast (google for how to do it) easy clean up and you can make egg white ones with lots of pre-chopped veggies. The more prep you do befoe you leave the better off you will be!
Grilling a chicken breast is just as easy as burgers and dogs...if you are just cooking over a campfire try chicken kabobs or chicken sausages instead of hot dogs.
I always have a hard time camping because others always bring in all kinds of cookies and chips...but I always make sure to take in snack size baggies of washed grapes and others fruit/veggie snacks.
Good luck and have a great time!0 -

Not to be a pooper on this one..but there was just a big recall on ground turkey...not saying to stay away from it...just be careful when buying...I would think by now most of the stores would have pulled any recalled products.0 -
These are great guys, thanks so much. .I will definitely be doing some exercise to get those smores!0
