Ran my first 5k today - age 40!

I ran my first mile since high school back in October (always thought I “hated running” even though I love working out.)
And today I ran my first ever official timed 5k — no stopping and I finished under my goal of 36 minutes — ended right around 35 min. I know that’s not fast but it was a huge accomplishment for me!!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I’m thankful for all the advice and support given on these forums. Now off to enjoy some turkey!!

See if there is a Park Run in your area. Timed 5K every Saturday. Still trying to beat 30 mins (so close).
And enjoy the turkey.2 -

When I did my first 5k I was amazed at how much fun it was. I did another a couple of months later and it wasn't quite as exciting, but I improved my time by 2 minutes, so I knew I wanted to keep doing them. That led to 10ks and HMs, and after a few years to marathons. It truly is addictive.1

That's awesome!! Many independent running stores do a weekly group run that's typically free. Its not usually a timed run but you might meet other runners and enjoy the group atmosphere. Some have ladies only runs and often will offer a discount on stuff after. Support your local running stores, they are disappearing because of online stores. And they are usually the ones that sponsor local races.
Congrats to you!!1 -
Way to go girl!!1
