Go over my calories 1 day a week??

Hi all just a general question, I have a day off dieting on a Saturday and usually have around 2500 calories that day, my daily goal to lose 1.5lbs a week is to eat 1500 calories. So I then go on to have about 1200 calories a day to even out my weekly calories so I'm still netting 1500 a day. Would eating like this affect my loss or is it okay? Thank you!

I think it wouldn't have too much negative effect as long as your sticking to the diet on the remaining days and keeping active!1

Nope. Many people will eat lower during the week to save additional calories for the weekend.4

It doesn’t matter when you eat the calories it’s just the deficit over time.
So for example if you eat 6000 calories in one day but adjust all the other days so your weekly, monthly, quarterly, or even yearly CICO numbers hit a particular goal you’ll still lose the same amount of weight over that time span as if you had divided them up differently.2 -
Agree with everyone that what's important is deficit over time. You might be interested in the 5-2 diet which is about eating much fewer calories 2 days per week so you can eat more for the remaining 5 days. There's lots about it online - it's big in Britain so there are recipes/meal plans in online British newspapers like dailymail.co.uk.2

I like the weekly recap I get from MFP. Looking at it that way it all averages out.
