Hi all....

Well this is my very first blog so bare with me. So a few months ago I was doing very well with my workouts. I would wake up every morning at 5am and get a 30-45 min workout in. I was feeling so energized and my body was starting to feel toned! Well, somewhere from there to now, I hurt my ankle while I was jogging and so I was put on restriction for 2 weeks. Now I just can't seem to get back to the exercising routine. I can easily tell you that I just don't have time, or that it's just too hard because I am always so busy, but I am starting to think that maybe I am lacking the will power to get up in the morning or stay up a little later and get my 30 min workouts in... afterall, its is just 30 min and I can sure be a couch potato for longer than that with no problem at all so why am I having such a hard time???? I need some motivation!!!!!

After an injury, even a slight one, it can be hard to get motivated again for exercise. The hardest part is going to be setting your alarm to get up that extra 30 to 45 minutes early and actually getting up. I think once you have done so you will find that it isn't quite so hard to do the exercise routine you got used to doing before.

Don't let the laziness run over you. Turn the engines in you and continue your healthy Journey, because you are stronger than you think :-)

I always have a hard time getting motivated for workouts (aka I'm lazy). Just started MFP last weekend, and I've been walking/hiking with friends all week, and I actually look forward to it. Being able to talk to somebody while you burn calories gets you out of your head, gives you a reason to actually go (you made plans, after all), and just makes the whole experience easier.

So if you can, find a workout buddy! Preferably someone you can have interesting conversations with. Failing that, try to find an exercise you actually like doing - I'm looking into boxing lessons, and I also play racquetball on occasion. Most people just grind it out, dragging their butts to the gym every day until it becomes a habit, but that doesn't work so well for me.

It's definitely hard to get back into the swing of the routine of exercising after an injury. Maybe if you start small....commit to 5, 10, 15 minutes of walking. There are some HIIT workouts that are as short as 15 minutes long. Before you know it, you'll be back at it the way you were before.

Maybe start out small?? Get up 15 minutes earlier instead of 30 to start.
I find that I can talk myself into getting to the gym if I say, "all i need to do is 20 minutes" It's better than nothing, right? Then once I'm there, I almost always end up doing 60.

I hear ya.. I get all psyched up and exercise for a few days then one day I dont and that turns into two three four days and then none at all. Just set your alarm no matter what when u go to bed for 5 and when it goes off force yourself up.. once your out of bed youll think its a waste to not do it:)

Hi, I just joined and looking forward to this great site. my only very small thought is: Are you taking your B12's. I only mention this, because when I lose motivation in really anything in life, I find that it's not so much lazy, as it is internal stress (with me anyway), and I take some of my liquid B12's in the morning with breakfast and by the afternoon I'm feeling a ton better.
The pills do nothing for me, I have to get the liquid kind. Just my opinion with what works for me.

    Smiles, Pam

Thanks to all that have replied!!!! Hearing your comments really makes me feel like its doable. As funny as this is I set up 3 alarms in the morning and I turn them all off!! I think if I do just drag my self out of bed I will find that it becomes easier to do after a few days. I have considered the B12 just because I have had a lack of energy evry day all day long. I find myself dozzing off at work and that is not cool!! I HATE THE FEELING!!!!

I will continue to find the strength and just continue looking ahead to reach my goal! I will let you all know how it goes tomorrow in the morning. I will also get in a 20min workout tonight since I didn't get up this morning!!!!

    THANK YOU GUYS AND GALS!!!!
