iPhone question . . .
Ok, I'm having to get a new phone ASAP and I want an iPhone, but I don't have $500 to spend on the iPhone 4. I was thinking about getting the iPhone 3GS and was wondering if 8GB or 16GB would be better. Now I know 16G would probably be my answer, but I already have a 32GB iPod Touch that has all my songs on it, etc. So I'd basically be using my iPhone for calling, texting, and using apps/getting online when there's no wifi for my iPod Touch (which the only wifi hot spot in this stupid town is 15 minutes away on campus :grumble:) So am I better off with an 8GB? Or another phone? I'm totally open to anything and I'm with AT&T. I just really need a phone pronto.

I have a 3G 8GB and its plenty for me... and I even have some songs on there.
They have a deal right now to get the 3G for like $49 bucks os you can't beat that.
If you are eligible for an upgrade right now... you might actually think about waiting until December-ish.
The iPhone 5 is coming out in the fall (so they say) and my ATT guy said it would probably be about the same upgrade phone price as the iphone 4 ($200ish) so I'm waiting and skipping right over the 4 and going to 5 later this year.0 -
Why so expensive? Are you not eligible for an upgrade?0

Get the bigger one, out your music on your new iPhone and get rid of the iTouch, one less gadget to have to deal with and keep up with!0

I have an 8 gb iTouch and I definitely need more room for apps!0

Definitely get the 16 gigs !!0

Get the one with more memory. You will not want to carry your Ipod and Iphone with you. I did for a week and said forget it. The ipod is on your phone, so you might as well use it on there. Sell your ipod and put the money toward your phone. I am an APP junky so the more room the better. Good luck, you're going to love it. ;-)0

I have a 14.0 GB iPhone 4 - I have almost 1000 songs on it, 6 videos, hundreds of photos, 38 apps and I use it constantly for things like entering food and exercise on the MFP app, surfing the MFP forums on the internet, general internet surfing, etc. I have even downloaded and watched movies on it. I still have used only about 5.1 GB of space on it. I think you'd be able to get by with the 8.0 GB model...0

Get the 16gig... you will end up with more apps than you think and they need space. You'll outgrow the smaller quick!
I want to say that you are not missing all that much by getting the 3GS vs the 4G, so don't second guess that decision. The 3GS is pleanty.0 -
I go through phones like it's no one's business. My current one fell off the kitchen counter and cracked the screen, so the only thing I can do is accept phone calls and I can't even see who's calling and I haven't had this phone for year. Waiting until December is out of the question because I'm trying to get a new job at the moment, so if the employer does call and I miss it, I'm not able to see the missed calls I have. I'm also involved in a sorority and the vet tech club when college starts back on August 22nd so I need a phone now >.< and I'm afraid that if I get rid of the iPod Touch (which was a birthday present from my mom back in March) that I wouldn't have enough room for everything on the iPhone if I get 16G. I have TONS of songs, pics, e-books, apps, and vids on it, so I'm more than likely going to keep the touch.0

Save your money and get the iPhone 5 in a couple months!
As I said in the previous post, I really can't save my money and wait for a new phone because I can't see anything on my current phone. All I can do is receive calls and listen to my phone vibrate as people send me texts I can't read. I actually think I may get a Samsung Captivate for the time being. As my luck with phones goes, I'll probably end up needing a new one by next Christmas anyway and by then all the bugs will be fixed on the iPhone 5.0 -
I have an iphone 3GS 8gb and it is plenty for a couple of playlists, plenty of apps, and functionality. We have an ipad 2 and an iphone 4 at home as well. For the money, you can't beat it. That said, I am anxiously awating the Iphone 5 in a couple of months. I can't wait for it.0
