Has anyone tried acupuncture?

I am investing in my first acupuncture session tomorrow to help relieve depression, stress, tiredness, and weight control. Have you ever tried acupuncture? What was your experience with it? I am desperate to feel better. I tried an antidepressant and didn’t like how I felt. But I just feel so helpless lately. I hope the acupuncture helps me clear some blocked energies.

I know one person who's found it helped her migraines but overall acupuncture is mostly a placebo effect. It works for some, does nothing for others. Your energies are not 'blocked'. Meds can be touch and go (and I can sympathize, my doc put me on 50mg of Zoloft and I disliked how emotionally dead I felt), it all seems to work best when a specific plan is in place. Some people do fine on meds (and sometimes you have to try different ones to see how YOU will do on them), some people do fine with therapy, some people find success with a mix of both. If meds don't seem to be the avenue, try therapy. Speaking to a professional likely will help you start to navigate those waters.2

I wish you well. I visit a Chinese doctor who does my acupuncture, it really can help balance things. I don't know how only that it helps me, most recently with an arthritis flair up. It is different to anything I had experienced before. Best thing is to relax and see where it takes you. It is good. All the very best.2

My ex was very sick and very depressed. He went to Dr after Dr for about 2 years. He is now seeing a man who was a Dr in China, does acupuncture and herbal vitamins. Has been MUCH better for about 3 years. He is much happier.

@Noel_57 @michellesilverleaf @fuzzipeg @corinasue1143 I want to thank you very much for your insights and support!
My first experience was pretty wonderful.
A navel piercing may seem like a benign adornment, but my new acupuncturist strongly suggested that this is not a healthy or safe practice for the flow of healthy energy. I took it out immediately!
She then recommended me to follow the Cellular Healing Diet to heal me of the bad energy I have been feeling. It works utilizing a few principles: Increasing good fats, removing sugar and everything that turns to sugar (grains), and fasting. What this does basically is remove my “red light foods” like sugar from my diet.
As I left, I felt instantly calmer and more relaxed. The frazzled feeling internally is gone. My physical ailments feel tangibly better. I am not hungry right now. I am going to follow what she says. And I can’t wait to go to my next appointment.3 -
