Need friends - getting discouraged

Hi everyone! My name is Dori, and I'm a 33 year old female, queer, and struggling to get back to a healthy weight from 233lbs.

I've been off and on this journey several times, with varying degrees of success, but I'm currently at the highest weight I've ever been, and honestly, it's terrifying me.

I know all the right things to do, from years of research and trial and error, but I need some friends to support me to stick with it, because I'm getting discouraged.

It's been two weeks since I started again... I gave up fast food, diet pop, almost all refined carbs, and I started going to the gym again. My diet now consists of fruit, veggies, eggs, meat and cheese for the most part, whereas I used to eat a lot of fast food and donuts (I work in a donut shop!). I used to drink several cans of diet coke per day, and now I almost exclusively drink water (and tea with honey on occassion).

I expected results from such changes, but so far in two weeks I've lost 0.5lbs, which is discouraging. I know results don't come overnight, and I'm going to stick with it, but some support would be greatly welcomed!!

You don't mention that you track your calories. None of the changes you mention will cause you to lose weight unless you're in a calorie deficit.

Hi Dori don’t get discouraged. It sounds like you are headed in the right direction but cutting out fast food and diet pop. Keep logging your meals and try to get 30 minutes of exercise in everyday, even if it’s just walking. It will come off.

Feel free to add me! I’m new to this discussion group too.
